...that we have been hearing about for months now, is officially today. Happy birthday Intel, it has been quite the fun ride. Don't know what Intel is all about? Here are Intel's Fifty Fast Facts.

Check out the video.

Today we celebrate the 50th anniversary of Intel, a company born at the dawn of the technology industry – the advent of the integrated circuit. Since that day, Intel’s impact has been felt through a progression of tech waves, including the personal computer, the internet and the cloud. We stand now at the starting line of a new and even more profound digital transformation where virtually every activity will interact with computing.

Computing is about to become infinitely more diverse. It will evolve into new form factors. It will adapt to extreme cost and environmental constraints. And it will power software and algorithms that are always-on, always-learning and able to excel at specialized tasks. Think of systems to prevent fraud on a blockchain or to concurrently anticipate and prevent diabetic events for a million individuals.

I'll put some money down to say they won't be around 50 years from now.

Well, honestly, I have my doubts if Humanity itself will be around 50 years from now too, I'm just saying. :D

No way, they have real patents, fabs, engineers, cash and revenue. For all their miss-steps, they have too much mass/momentum.

China has an open and hard requirement for backdoors. Besides Chinese AMD processors not going anywhere for that, AMD's own processors should instantly lose all corporate/government interest as the Chinese government now has full knowledge of the design/workings of AMD CPUs. They soon will easily be able to make counterfeit AMD CPUs to swap into any laptop or anyone running EPYC...

Apple's little ARM chips are still a few years away from high end macbooks if not just physically but in actual power.

They still have time to turn things around. The executives havnt wasted all of Intel's legacy yet.

AMD is making waves and Intel is getting seasick, cannot change that fact. :D

Valid points for the intel community, however my stock investment is happy with the news of licensing to China because they (investors) are too ignorant to care ;p But lets be real, a majority of government entities most likely don't use AMD products because the large retailers they deal with don't put them at the top of the list, and in the secure groups, there are restrictions. Corporate is more likely as the performance to cost ratio for EPYC is pretty great and seems to be gaining good ground.

Counterfeit Chinese AMD cpus surely won't go into gov/corp PCs. Their existence doesn't mean legit AMD cpus are now untrustworthy or can no longer be used. This also ignores the fact that AMD can and will change the microcode and architecture as time passes, while China will be stuck with whatever they have been licensed or able to reverse engineer, same as they always have been.

Sorry, even if AMD had a way for Windows/OS to verify genuine CPUs, China would have already stolen a copy of that signing key from that teeny tiny company...

It wouldn't be the first time counterfeit IC's found their way into federal equipment.

HBD, intel fanboy here.... I know they are evil, I guess I am Satan worshiper
