Why is everybody going for SLI today? Damn doesn't anybody care about used PCI card slots or that r250 will beat sli's ass soon, and SLI is just a fad...

I will buy the r520 or the G70 or whatever when it comes out, no big deal.

I wanted something now, I didn't want to wait and wait and wait for the next new thing.

That looks like a kickass system. Definitely droolworthy. Watch that PSU though, make sure it's performing within spec once you have it all put together.

I'm jealous :D
 
nice setup, similiar to mine except I built my own. Only thing I would change though is that I would've gone with a single raptor with a much bigger secondary hard drive. I used to run RAID 0 on my previous rigs and noticed no noticable peformance gain - at least in games and general computer use. RAID 0 is just not worth the risk IMHO

Wow...sorry man.. SLI isnt a fad. Its here to stay. Nvidia has sli.. ati is trying to play catch up and get sli.

its not going anywhere.

As far as getting sli.. why not? new cards wont be out till August or early september in any volume anyway.

if you need the performance now and can afford it why not.

Thats very nice rig man enjoy that shit for everyone. Im building a rig right now and its about the same specs as yours except i got the Asus Sli board and the Amd 4000+ Venice Also i went with the 2 300 gig 16mb cause someone told me the raptors are not worth getting only a little bit of performance gain and im not going SLI now im going with X850 XT PE since its the fastest stand alone card and then wait till the new cards come out and spend 800 dollers --- IM SO SMART! lol

No. SLI is an Nvidia video card thing, but it will probably work with ATI's version of "SLI" whenever that comes out.
 
and there is no proof 1 card will beat out 2 ultras. its all rumors.

If you get SLI today, sure you get great preformance blah blah. But when next gen GFX comes out, you know how expensive that would be to by TWO of them just because you decided to go SLI before, and have to have 2 of the same card.....whether it is r520 or g70 or w/e? You certaintly can't just buy one and put it in..its not even using SLI to its potential...

did they ever fix the widescreen issue anyhow>?

Since we are quoting on rumors, since there's been no product demostration to support this, I counter with my own speculation. The R520 will be like the FX series of cards was for nVIDIA and totally blow in comparison to an SLI rigged set of 6800 ultras :D

Of course that's as fnboy statement as your orignal one was, the only difference is that mine is said in sarcasm.

I think both ATI and nVIDIA both learned valuable lessons about the lame duck FX series of cards nVIDIA released and that ATI would try hard to not repeat a similar mistake.
