Text to file?

I have various browser extensions for bookmarking and saving pages, and can save pages as PDF, etc. However, is there anyway I could just highlight a block of text on a webpage, right-click it, and save it to a file easily? I really wish there was something like this... even though I know I'm being picky. I don't need the whole page in most instances.

If there was an easy way to do this, it would really make my life a lot easier.

I use chrome by default.. so any solutions for that would be even better... but I'll take anything right now.

Thanks ;)

Opera browser comes standard with Notes. It works exactly like you described, except they are stored as notes in the sidebar rather than as files, and you can sync your notes across all your Opera instances.

Highlight>RtClk>Copy to Note

Then you can search all your notes for whatever text you remember by typing in Note's search bar.

There are also some nice stand-alone notes programs that work really well, but Opera's a good browser too.

Are you on a Mac? I can't find that bar anywhere... on two computers. I google'd it, and I found a video showing what you're talking about... but it's on a Mac.

But yea.. that's exactly what I'm looking for. I'll look for "note extensions" and find something maybe.

I use Evernote and their Evernote extension for Chrome and Firefox to save notes/snippets/pieces that I can access later on from my phone or laptop.

I used Opera's Note feature in the past a few times. Though it looks like they've removed it from the later versions of Opera as it's no longer where I remember it being (highlight, right click, and "Save to notes"). And this is on Windows 7.

Yeah.. I use Opera sometimes, and when I saw the reply to my OP I knew it wasn't there. I checked anyway, and it isn't (That's why I asked if he was on a Mac).

Yeah.. I've tried evernote before. I just don't really need all the extra stuff it provides.

Thanks for replying, though.
