Godofdestruction. If you don't like the results you see here, please feel free to pursue other benchmarks/threads that make you feel happier about your purchase. A person merely posted what they (probably) personally found out and are simply posting it. Go crap in a different thread and stop trying to bash your head against an open door.

To me these benchmarks seem too good to be true. The temperature of the card is much lower than I anticipated. My X1950 runs 77C idle and 89C load, so a 12C drop in load temps is quite a bit.

LOL im not upset guys , like i said before Unfortunately thats what we see more all over the internet ( Fan boys , flames , ..) im just not to waste my time with that kind of conversations because i already know we dont get anywhere , its a waste of time , if he´s happy thinking this results are Fake good for him ;)

no problem , every time i have new tests i report here , let´s wait for new drivers and see if there is any improvments over this ones or not , i hope so but we never know....

I have a ? for you: Do you feel that this card is faster than a 8800GTS? Also, I noticed that in one of your pictures you had a X1950XTX, how would you compare the X1950 and HD2900?
 
Having owned a 8800GTX, 1950XT, and HD2900XT I would say the 2900 feels smoother than the 8800GTX. While the 8800GTX might be faster, I can game at the same resolutions and AA/AF settings with the HD2900XT.

As bad as everyone says the drivers are they are light years ahead of were the 8800 was at launch, at least with Vista.

Thanks for adding additional comparative info on the above cards. In your honest opinion, would you say the 2900XT can perform well enough in a resolution of 2560x1600 that a 8800GTX is no longer a necessary purchase?

Yeah, I too appreciate the work you do mascaras :)

What I view the 2900xt as, is a card that's between the 8800GTS and the GTX, a bridge if you will.

For people that either don't want a GTS, and don't have enough for a GTX yet. This card performs pretty darn well and will only get better (too a point!) with driver updates. The first unofficial driver update seems to be improving it already.

One thing I've noticed is that there appears to me to be an AA bug where when you enable AA you get a pretty big performance hit. ATi used to be better than nVidia in that regard meaning they had better performance with AA on.

Maybe we're seeing a new dawn of cards though, maybe just poor drivers as of late.

However it boils down, the HD2900XT doesn't appear to use that much more power than my 1950XTX or an equivalent nVidia card. I look at it in terms of the 8800GTX, it uses the same idle volts, a little less peak 2D volts, and about 30 watts more peak 3D volts than the 8800GTX. Now that's not the "Power monster" that was hyped.

I believe with some more driver tweaking, this card will look even better. Also once they start selling it along and not with the "black box" or mouse :)
 
Thanks for your hard work mascaras! I know it can't be easy keeping multiple forums updated on your results and having to fend off all these blind-sided naysayers. I also look forward to your future results and will take them into consideration should I decide to actually make a purchase this round. :cool:
 
All i have to say is until he actually gets himself a legit version of 3dmark i wont believe a fucking thing he says. Using old outdated versions of 3dmark will naturally give different results. Show me something on futuremarks orb or get the fuck out of here already.

Hell with the old versions all it took was some driver tweaking to get 11k in 05 on my 7800GS which could barely pull off 7k with a big overclock.

I can not scale to 2560x1600 as I only have a 24" LCD but would say if you want mainly DX9 games to play at that resolution go with the 8800GTX. It appears that AMD is too forward thinking with the R600 design concept and might not ever get great DX9 gaming performance like a 8800GTX, much less the Ultra. Vista drivers was the only reason I sold my 8800.

From the looks of what DX10 benchmarks I have seen the R600 is going to clean up.

yep in 3dmark 2005 for what i see and for the tests i made the X2900XT seems better than 8800GTX (before some ppl start saying again that i said X2900 its best than 8800GTX i say again >> Only in 3Dmark Not in games ) .

the FULL VERSION of 3Dmark 2006 (V1.1.0) come with Sapphire X2900XT that was released may 14th , outdated?? LOLOL >>> http://www.futuremark.com/download/3dmark06/

the only 3dmark that is outdated was 3dmark 2005 but 8800GTS , 8800GTX ands x2900XT 3dmark 2005 scores were done all with that version .

I scored 151xx in 3dmark 06 I believe, I will have to run it again once I'm back on my OC setup. I fear my RAM isn't acting properly and I'm back on default since this afternoon until I run memtest overnight. I never paid attentions to benchies, in fact I ran 3dmark for a friend who wanted to know. Personally, I find people who waste more than 1 hour trying to score better are geek with no social life, as bench scores have nothing to do with real world application improvements. But to each his own I guess.

I'm 98% sure I scored 14300 with my OC'ed GTX the first time I ran it, but my ram wasn't yet oc'ed and my cpu was only at 3.4ghz.

I'll run it again to make sure. Of course, I could be wrong.

Edit: oh yeah my gtx was oc'ed at 629/1000 for all tests though.

Yes its true that when I scored around 15k it was with the same OC you have (cpu wise I meant) which is 3.6ghz ? see sig

Whats all the fuss about, they all play games, lol. Its almost like some of you treat 3dmark scores like porn, you just masterbate all over them. LMAO. All of that benchmarking is great lets just hope we get ALOT of good games to support these cards, cause I damn sure dont get any fun out of WATCHING 3dmark run..

O.K., started playing around a little bit. Here's E6600@3.6Ghz and HIS HD2900XT 825/1000 stock HSF, I will eventually get the card watercooled.

3DMark06 12,363 there was no way I could do 12K+ with my 8800GTS 640MB even @ 770/1100 with E6600@3.9Ghz, however, I did get it over 12K+ with the 8800GTS 640MB but with a QX6700@3.8Ghz 12,670. More testing eventually.
