Hello, my temperature when checked with Core Temp gives me 54c for Core#0 and 47c on Core#1. (at idle)
I'm running a E7200 with abit IP35 Pro.
Have Arctic Cooling 7, ECS 8800GT, Corsair 620HX psu.
The temperature seems to be quite high, can someone tell me what could be the issue?

Use Real Temp instead of Core Temp ,it is more accurate. It usually get the right TJ Max number for Intel CPU's. If it is still high try reapplying the thermal paste, also what is your ambient temps. My quad idle temps are in the high 40c because my ambient temps are around 27c to 30c.

looks like the temp is 45 and 39 with real temp. (I heard you had to calibrate real temp somehow, I am running the CPU @ default settings btw)
Is this still high? (I suppose my room is a little hot..)

yes too warm for stock at idle unless your room is 110F

lay the system on its side., Slide something wooden (flat carpenters pencil, stack of popsicle sticks etc.) under the board near the cpu socket to give it some support from below so it will not flex too much. On each of the push pins holding the HS to the board place one thumb over the other and press like hell until it hurts. Do this in X pattern (well you cant really, but dont go around in a circle, jump across as much as you can.).

I am betting one of the push pins is not fully seated. Make sure the pins are in the "install" position, the little arrow on the top tells you which way to turn the pin to remove the heatsink, they should not be turned. I have seen some from the factory in the wrong position so pushing seems to work but actually does nothing.

Thanks Bill, just tried what you told me and it went down to 41 and 35 (though I couldn't find any wooden thing to support the board i did manage to to stick the HS in in an x pattern) . Still too high?

ahhh much much more better.

Hard to say, you didnt mention if stock or OCed but I now feel HS is on there good so you are good to go. It all just depends on so many things, room temp, case airflow/fans installed etc.

But, it is what it is and its a lot more closer to what I normally see when building systems. So I can say I think the HS is good to go, other things might help reduce it more but thats another story.

Keep in mind if you have left the "normal" bios settings to allow the motherboard to control the fan speed, the motherboard will run the fan just fast enough to keep the cpu in the middle (ish) of its temp range to reduce nosie and ramp up fan speed as the computer works harder. This will make the idle temps look warm.

A lot of us that post temps are OCing and have gone into the bios to force the cpu fan to run 100% all the time and at idle that drops the temps a lot at the expense of hearing the fan run.
