Temp question???

I just changed my motherboard from an Asus P5WDH to an Asus P5K Deluxe, and I noticed a difference in the temperatures.

It's not that the actual temps, idle and load are different, because they are not. My question is actually regarding the difference in temps between loads.

For instance, I am monitoring the temps via either Speedfan or Coretemp. At idle, just sitting at desktop, the temp is about 35. As SOON as I place load on the processor, the temp jumps to about 44. And then when I take load off the CPU, it goes back down to about 35.

The temps at load are about 53 at maximum load with ambient temps about 29C. The rig is in my sig. It's 24/7 stable at the OC I tested.

Is this a normal temp fluctuation? By the way, both cores are always within 1-2 degrees of each other at all times.

well, if it's abnormal, then it happens to me too in speedfan. yes, i notice the temp plunges the very second the core stops processing; so i'm willing to say that it's normal.
 
Your difference in idle/load temps seems perfectly reasonable. It's normal for the temps to jump up and down that fast when changing from idle to load and load to idle. On die temp sensors will note changes much faster than what many people were used to due to the use of thermistors in the CPU socket which sat underneath the CPU. Temperatures would change gradually when using them because they were just getting temps based on the heat in the socket.

You will usually notice larger differences between idle and load with air cooling than you will with something like water cooling. I don't have a very large difference between my idle and load on the rig in my sig due to the use of watercooling. That and with my overclock, the CPU likes to idle rather high for the short time it doesn't have a full load running on it.

Excellent. That's just what I wanted to hear. I mean, it was just a little nagging issue to me, and I needed clarification on it; I configured the OC so well a few months back that I "set it and forgot it". :p
