Teh Uber L33t Aqua-Computer Thread :)

My budget is around $600.

I want to build water cooling system completely composed of ONLY aqua-computers' components.

Where is the cheapest place to order? What stuff do I need? (could you guys make a list for me?)

Thanks..

TN nice job with the Aquastream controllers. The standoffs are good idea. "Thumbs Up!"

Sounds like you need to take a few days to read the thread or spend some time at A-C's site. I think you would get more out of a "Do it yourself" setup if you...um...do it yourself. After all it is your money. I think many are willing to help and offer advice once you decide on what components appeal to you. You could make a better decision for yourself once you have investigated your options more thoroughly.

Sorry for not statement it clearly. I meant to doing it myself..building the actually WC setup would be my job and I love doing it. What I meant is that I don't know where to get these "parts" and which "parts" I need to make myself a complete WC setup. Thanks..

Justinkoko what do you think you want to cool? CPU, NB and a GPU or two? Tell us a little more about your system and I am sure the recommendations will be plentiful.

Spec:

Athlon 64 3000+ Venice 9x305=2745Mhz 1.52volt
DFI ULTRA-D Mobo
Patriot DDR PC3200 TCCD 2x512MB
ATI X800 XL PCIE BBA
Ultra X-Connect 500W
Cooler Master Cavelier (pic
EXOS WC with CPU-300 GOLD water block.

oc1.jpg

(Ran prime95 for 4hrs)
(why is PWR IC so hot??)

Do you think i should ditch Cavelier for Lian-Li v-1200..I think it is too small for WC setup..
I ONLY want to cool CPU...nothing in between......
Thanks...

So...with your budget and staying within your desire to use "Aquacomputer" parts only... you have quite a few options.

You could go with the Cuplex XT , and the Airplex Evo 120 (couldn't find link to the product on Sharka's site?) and the Aquastream. I would send the good folks at Sharka an email and ask about the Evo 120.

You could probably install all of this without any major mods to your case. Everything should fit well in the V1000. I'm not sure about the other case you suggested as I think the link you posted is bad.

To give you an idea of what you can do with the V1000 check out ModSquad's work here. While you are there you will find a few other nicely modded V1000's. :)

Thanks for your advice..it helped me a lot. :)

As for the pic...here..I took picture of it instead of leeching off from other site. :)
cmcavalier010.jpg

anewpsu013.jpg

(Components and waterblock might be a little different cuz the picture is kind of old)..
I'd like to keep the case if it is possible...but if it is necessary...I'll get V1000...

Do you think I can fit them all in that case?

Edit: I think I can fit that radiator on the top...but on second thought..I think it'd be better off buying double radiator..(pic . Is there a big impact? Is it worth the money? How about a reservoir? Aqua-computers' reservoir is one of the nicest reservoirs I've seen.. Is it needed? Why do people buy them?

Edit2: This looks so sexy.. :p

hey can any of you link me to a relay connector for my aquaero?

or is that included

It is not included with the Aquaero. The part number is 53036 and here is a pic. I would estimate the price at about $2 USD. You will need to contact Sharka to special order it. I believe their next order will be placed in about 2 weeks from now. When I ordered my Aquaero on their initial stock order I bought two of them. :)

So lets see for your $600:

First of all I think you can fit everything in your current Cooler Master case, though it will depend on how many 5.25" slots you are currently using. Putting the Evo 240 in will in all likelyhood take up 2 of your 5.25" slots with the rad and fans. Now assuming that is okay, then here it is:

Aquastream w 3.5 controller $115
Airplex Evo 240 radiator Est. $75
Evo 240 grill $25
Aquatube $65
AquaBay AT $35
Cuplex XT $110
Aquagratix 800/850 $90
TwinPlex Chipset $60
Plug & Cool tubing 12 feet $12

Total $587

Notes: Items not in website catalog can be special ordered. All items come with your choice of fittings. However, you might need a couple more depending on your application that might run an additional $10-$20.

If in North America you can obtain from Sharka Corp.

I only use 1 slot for my pioneer dvd burner so it won't be a problem. I also live in the US so I guess I'll order stuff off from Sharka.

thanks the list,TN. :)

edit: since i won't need to cool gfx and nb..i made my list to fit my needs..

Aquastream w 3.5 controller $115
Airplex Evo 240 radiator Est. $75
Evo 240 grill $25
Cuplex XT $110
Plug & Cool tubing 12 feet $12
Aquatube (water reservoir) $64
-----------------------------------------------------
sub total $401...

Lian-Li (Cases) Lian Li PC-V1200B Plus $219

total: $620...

Another Question: If I was to add a second Aquastream with my Aquero does it matter if I have different versions of the Aquastream controller boards?

So long as you have at least one version 3 or above controller everything will work fine. If you have a version 2 controller just set the address jumper for the version 3 and above controller for a different address if it doesn't work properly the first time you try it.

Version 3 or 3.5 work fine together. :D

K thanks for the info... The Aquasuite will tell me what controller version I am using if I remember, right?

I would suggest you think strongly on the V2000 series cases as they have a LOT MORE room in them for watercooling if your budget can be expanded a bit. Other than that it all looks good to me. :D

What does it do exactally...

Well it doesn't do anything by itself as it is just a 2 wire plug connector. The connector allows you to plug in any two wire 12 volt device and you can then control that device though the AquaSuite or display controls. The Multi-Switch is I think a continuation of that idea, but expanded out to include 8 devices instead of 1.

This is not an up to date version. The cooling plates have changed slightly and will be anodised in silver.

Maybe the cooler can be (pre)ordered today.

Okay, I want to understand this, why would RAM chip be running too hot? It is due to some sort of OC? Most computers in this world doesn't have the above to cool the RAM chip, just the over all cooling fan. Why on earth is the above toy remotely necessary?

It depends on what you are doing with the ram and what MB you are putting it in. Some MB's can supply a lot of voltage to the ram chips standard, others can do it with some hardware volt mods, and still others can do it with a custom BIOS. So whenever you add excess voltage, into any device, the parts get hotter. One of the time honored ways of getting stable OC's is to increase voltage to the device. So if you increase voltage and don't have a way of cooling off the device then you get a short lived part or a dramatic issuance of magic smoke. ;)

BTW, I got tossed off WizD recently for telling someone that they must not get off the farm too much if they thought that ram didn't need watercooling. :p I noticed the other day that they seem to get the picture now on WizD ROFLMAO

well for those of us OC'ing the ram bigtime that need to run up to 3.4 or more volts thru the ram have to have active cooling. sometimes a fan is enough but you have to have it blowin a lot of air over it. andd it gets worse wehre the ram sticks are sitting right beside each other cuz then the heatspreaders touch and get even hotter and fans may or may not help. plus fans on ram prolly add noise to a case that may otherwise be quiet.

so, for those of us who are running high voltage thru the ram AND interested in watercooling, this is a godsend. hope that cleared it up a bit.

So is it fair to say that if I use the computer w/o OC, there is no reason to add cooler on the ram chip?
