a lot of people here looking forward to the game?

think it is going to be popular?

what are you looking forward to most about it?

im really looking forward to the radiant AI and all the gameplay possibilities that can arise from different situations with npcs. the different possibilites of completing quests in different ways.

im also looking forward to just walking around admiring views like this:

obliv32B.jpg

16 square miles is a lot of land for a video game, so ill just have a lot of fun getting lost, hunting deer, collecting plants and things to mix into potions. and eventually getting to the main plot , heh

IM GOING TO BE A RICE FARMER AND THEN FARM RICE AND THEN TAKE THAT RICE THEN WALK TO A NEARBY VILLAGE AND SELL SUCH SAID RICE TO THE RICE BUYING CUSTOMERS WHO WILL THEN MAKE THE RICE INTO PERFECTLY AWESOME RICE PANCAKES WHICH WILL THEN BE USED TO BRIBE A LOCAL MAGISTRATE INTO RETURNING A CERTAIN RING KNOWN AS FARGOTHS RING OF HEALING TO A WOOD ELF KNOWN AS FARGOTH WHO WILL TAKE THAT RING AND THEN SUMMON AN ARMY OF CLIFFRACERS TO INVADE AND KILL EVERYONE EXCEPT THE WONDERFUL AND DELITEFUL RICE FARMERS SUCH AS ME.
I WIN.

The thing I am looking formard to the most is next Monday when I can pop it into my 360 and just forget about everything else thats going on.

I'm definitely getting it.....just ordered a 7900gt from ClubIT with intentions of splooging one's pants while experiencing Oblivion.....errrr no I didn't....ahh shit

Me to
;)

I cannot wait to get lost in the atmosphere of this game. Its a fine example of what a RPG should be ... MMORPGS have nearly ruined the RPG in generals so Oblivion will be a fresh breath of air FINALLY.

No cliffracers in Oblivion. Sorry.

I am mostly interested in the amount of things that you can do in the game. And the different paths that you can take to achieve different goals. Oh and nice graphic is a big plus too:)

If you look around the web, there is a scan of the PC Gamer 7 page review of the game, and the reviewer played a thief type character. From the look of the review, thief type character is finally worth playing!

So I take it a lot of people are looking forward to this game eh?

I'll have to see how it does on the game chart sells but I'm thinking about adding it to our suite of games for video card evaluations, the graphics and AI from what i've seen from the videos is phenomenal, it seems the gameplay is gonna be as well.

We currently don't have an RPG in our lineup and I want to include one, this may be the title I go for.

HELL YEAH do a review on it so I know what I'm getting myself into before I buy it.

second the idea of adding OB in the game benchmarks. I think with the combination of high end graphic and complex AI system and physics engine, OB would be a good system stresser.

QFT

Many people are up grading their entire systems for this game...

Whens the PC version coming out?

Anyway, I played Morrowwind and enjoyed it so I'll probably be buying this too.

Im gonna play as a sexy woman Bounty Hunter, entice men into my bedroom, kill them and steal everything and leave them for dead and naked. :D

One request please:
Given that more and more games are coming out for both PC and Console systems. Could you guys also include in your benchmarks some impressions that you guys have about the differences that you noticed between different platforms?
I think adding such information would be very helpful for gamers of all types.

I'm not sure about it being popular, but irreguardless I'm getting it the 20th or so, and really I'm building a whole new rig to run Oblivion (and CS:S).

I'm also looking forward to exploring its areas, wandering around and questing, I'm also looking forward to skill perks, they let you do cool stuff when you level up, like at high levels in armorer you can make your armor better then stock and your hammers never run out, the combat is better then Morrowinds and it actually has a true kenetic feeling to it, All dialog is spoken, but one of my peves is the devs have said that NO graphics card will be able to run the game with AA and High Defintion lighting (Even ATI ones), even so I'm still pretty shure you can run it with bloom if you love AA or can just run it without AA if you want, I would LOVE to see benchmarks with Oblivion when it comes out although I probably won't have time as I'm going to be playing the game FOR ALONG TIME, eh okay I'm done ranting and if anyone read threw all that, good job!

Just a nitpick; it's HDR lighting. High-Dynamic-Range.

Hell yeah, right on. I will visit everyone's house killing their first born.

Wow, I was thinking about going out and getting GRAW, but from the looks of it and the sounds of it I might be holding off. Too bad it's not here now.

Oblivion is one of the first games in a loooong time that I'm really excited about, I've had it pre-ordered for a while (collectors dvd edition obviously), I love morrowind and based on all the info so far it looks like Oblivion is basically Morrowind with a big tech overhaul and everything that wasn't perfect in that game fixed (combat, travel, quest interface).

From a technical standpoint, it's apparently coded to use multi-cores properly (pc and xbox360), and I'd love to see a performance comparison between an otherwise comparable multi and single core system, say, oh, I don't know, an amd64 3800+ and an X2 4200/4400+.

In fact I'm so curious on this point that I'm comsidering getting the xbox360 version ASWELL just to compare with the performance on a mid-specced PC (mine is amd64 3800+/7800gtx/2gb ram).

I have a feeling this game is going to be a gaming marvel! I think I've made up my mind, I'm going with Elder!!

Does anyone know where that 7 page scanned spread can be found? I heard it was floating out on the net but i have yet to see it. Let me know if anyone has come across this.

Sigh, what a good way for me to wake up and browse the forum while eating breakfast...

Anyway, am I the only one that wish that [H} would do comparison of a game across the platform?

7800gtx mid-specced PC?
That made me giggle... Albeit it's no SLI'ed X2 but anything with a $400 dollar video-card isn't mid-specced.

good luck running that game with that grass render distance

I never pre-order games, except Oblivion (and Morrowind).

Morrowind, like Daggerfall, had alot of serious flaws. Seems they were overly ambitious with Daggerfall (that game was HUGE, it was a real landmass), and decided to go in the opposite direction with Morrowind. The small land mass with mountains blocking everything made the game silly, especially since you could jump/levitate over the mountains. The combat sucked.

I hear they fixed that with Oblivion, but I don't care. Even with all of Daggerfall and Morrowind's flaws, I still got months of playtime out of them.

Not sure what I should do with my system. An Abit AI7 with a Pentium 4 3GHz, 2 Gigs RAM, Radeon x800XL. Not sure if 'upgrading' anything would be worth it.

The developers said in an interview you will not notice a difference between single and dual core cpus. It's much more gpu dependant.

I read several preview/reviews of this game today and it looks worth trying. I enjoy games alot more if they look/sound good and this one appears to do well in that area, at least for the "world". Gameplay, however, is a major problem with many games, I just hope this one is enjoyable with plenty to do. I will definitely be getting this unless I find something that makes me change my mind though.

i will be buying this game the day it comes out. I wish it had a multiplayer for some pvp, but hey.. what can ya do.

im interrested to see how the whole skill tree is going to work. I was reading somewhere that you dont get to put skills or atributes where u want. Instead, the game distributes the points for you - depending on what you do. If your a big guy who walks around smashing things all the time, then it will give u points to strength, sword skills etc.

should be fun, and hope my Go7800GTX laptop running dual with my 37" LCD can handle it.. If not, looks like ill be dropping a nice chunk of $$ for a new desktop with a 7900... :D

I'm getting the Collector's Edition on launch day... heck, one of the primary reasons for me upgrading to a 7900GT is to be able to play this as well as I can :).

It sounds like you haven't played Morrowind...

So I been hearing alot about this game lately. I must admit it looks and sounds sweet. The only thing is, I never played this series before. If I was to buy this game, will I be lost on the storyline?

Is there anything else to do!?

Yes, I haven't really acknowledged the earlier Elder Scrolls, just hearing a few good tings about it, but I have been itching to play an RPG recently and this looks like it is going to do it.

I never did... any quickie explanations? Also, will the story from Morrowind be needed to be known by a player to enjoy Oblivion?

The short of it is that skill improve through usage. There is no Xp to be gained or level to be achieved in the traditional RPG sense.
Say you want to improve your acrobatic skill, you just run and jump a lot and that skill will improve gradually.

And no you don't need to have played morrowind to enjoy Oblivion. The settings of the two games are distinct enough. In morrowind you are confined on this small island, in oblivion you are back on the "main land" of the empire.
The only thing that really connects the two games is really the lore and histories that the world of Elder Scroll shares.
