A student of a friend is quadriplegic and is looking for a new tablet (her current one is a first gen iPad; she's working on getting her BA). I am not super up on what's out there in the tablet world, or what would work for someone with major limitations to their dexterity.
Her major interests are in reading, writing, and editing documents (pdfs are a big part of her reading). She cannot really type on a true keyboard, she basically uses the side of her palm to swipe the screen. For typing she uses her knucklesmainly her outermost knuckle since its on the far side (so she has some limited arm/wrist mobility, but no real manual dexterity).
If possible, she'd like to be able to write and have an ebook or PDF open at the same time on the screen. I am not sure if any device is currently capable of that.
Her budget is $1000. I, and she, will appreciate any suggestions.
