I've been scouring the internet all day today trying to come up with some information on this processor. I've not been able to find much, Intel.com doesn't have much information on this processor besides the stuff I already knew such as clock speed and L2 cache etc.

I bought a Dell E1505 laptop about a month ago with the intentions of upgrading it as time moves on, mainly just the memory, proc, and DVD drive. I'm trying to find out what socket is currently on the mainboard and what my chipset will support so I can start looking.

This particular processor is labeled as a dual core processor, and I'm not real clear what the difference is between that and Core 2 Duo processor is?

If anyone has any concrete info on this processor that would be great, it's entirely possible I am just looking at the wrong places or entering the wrong search string in Google.

Oh and on another note, I got desperate and tore my whole laptop apart, that was a fun experience lol. I just *HAD* to see the inside and pop the heatsink off the proc etc, plus it was a good learning experience taking a laptop apart, and it worked when I powered it back up and no extra parts!!!!!!! (I'm making this post from it now)
 
The Dell E1505 uses the 945 Mobile Express chipset. You can add any line of the Core 2 Duo's. But make sure its not the the Santa Rosa cup's. You want the even number model numbers IE the T5600,T7200,T7400,T7600 etc...
 
A google search of "T2080" (not hard to do yourself, by the way) says it's a 1.73GHz Core with 1MB of cache on socket 478.

If you want to get an upgrade, look at a Core 2 based proc at the same FSB,
