System Temps

I just upgraded and built a i7 3930K on an ASRock Extreme6 I've had it for about a month at most now and really haven't played much in the OC department becuase it feels like the system is running a little warm to begin with.

CPU : i7 3930K
GPU : 660ti
Cooler : Noctua nh d14

The biggest issue I see here is I'm in AZ and it's been pretty hot lately even with AC it's still hot. I've considered moving to liquid just haven't done it yet. These are pretty much idle temps web browsing during work things of that nature no gaming or stress.

Opinions?

I am sorry but the temperatures on this is that your idle or your temperature under load?

With the Noctua NH-D14 I would expect to see temperatures under 30c idle and maybe 50 to 60 under load without any type of overclock on the Intel® Core™ i7-3930K.

I'm starting to wonder if it's just being in Arizona this room it is located in is pretty warm itself but those temps are just daily use web surfing email etc nothing gaming or high resource related. Starting to get the feeling I might need to go liquid just to keep better control of the temps.

If you want to do better than that NH-D14 you'll have to go with a custom water loop. You try reseating the heatsink?

Room temperature is a bitch. During hot and humid summer days in Maryland, my CPU and GPU temps can elevate by as much as 3-5 C at idle.

I was going to suggest re-applying your HSF, but your MB temp seems a bit warm, as well. Bad air-flow in your case or is your case in a closed and tight area?

As for your CPU: Check your individual core temperatures. At first I thought my CPU was running hot when my BIOS read 40 - 45 C idle or generic web browsing. But, turns out it's just one warmer-than-usual core making it appear so when the other cores are fine.

temps are a little high. I just installed the same process but on a asus rampage iv extreme. I am using the noctura nh-d14 se2011 and the thermal paste that came with that fan. My temps on the CPU idle between 28-35, MB usually around 30c. Under load I've not seen anything above 55c. AS others suggested I'd try repasting and reseating the heatsink first.

Yes, apply a qualitative thermal paste, not the crappy one and make sure your HSF / Cooler is mounted well I mean its firm and not loose or shaking etc.

The Paste I'm currently using on it is Arctic silver 5 still sitting about the same temps nothing has really improved so I'm going to take a look at the fan direction of both fans on the NH-D14 and make sure one didn't get seated blowing the opposite direction and go from there.

The NH-T1 that comes with your heatsink is better than AS5 by a few degrees. If you are remounting then switch.

So I removed the fans and double checked the heat-sink setup and apparently in my great haste of getting my new system up and running I had the cooler backwards and since i'm using a Raven 02 case the fans from the bottom were blowing up, the heat-sink fans were blowing down.

So color me stupid on this one but thanks for the help!

Thanks for explaining what the cause was. That takes courage. Glad all is good!
