SWTOR keeps crashing, will not load

Hello forum. I just installed star wars and was able to watch the intro cinematic (amazing btw) and when I got to the character server screen it bugged out and wouldnt let me make one. So I reloaded and errors then crash every single time.

Current specs:
CPU: AMD Athlon II X2 250 3.0ghz
GPU: GTX 460 786 MBA
Ram: 7 gigs DDR3
Windows 7 Home

So will I need to upgrade my CPU? I was able to play WoW on nearly max. Please I need input asap. I will buy s New CPU tomm. I need to play lol I'm so dissapointed thay I cannot play.
 
I doubt the game is crashing because of the CPU (unless the fan is defective or something where excess heat is being generated). Check out the SW:ToR tech support forums before buying anything new (unless you just want new stuff).
 
You sure it's not a game issue? Do crashes occur with any other game?

Also what PSU do you have?
 
I have a 1000 watt PSU. All steam games work perfect, same with starcraft. I heard I have to launch the game client from the website to patch missing files, will see if that works.
 
my temp guages on my video card on my second monitor have ramped up to 108C during some of the 'scenes'. Maybe take your 460 out and blow out the dust? :)
 
What exact errors does it report before crashing?

Have you updated your graphics card drivers?

Download HWmonitor or HWinfo, monitor the temps during the cutscenes etc, see if anything goves over 80 degrees.
 
All is well running all my settings on high and loving the game. Apparently, you had yo reinstall the launcher to get done missing files directly from the account page. Thanks for all the help :)
