Swapping drives C and D

Alright so I'm wondering if anyone has any suggestions on what to do in this situation.

I have a computer with two drives, one is about 9GB and the other about 90GB. The 9GB one is drive C and is completely full, up to the point where I can't even install new windows updates anymore.

Basically I want to be able to use the 90GB one as the C drive but I don't want to lose any data on the drives.

Is there anyway to swap these drives around? (So it's exactly the same as it is now except the C drive will have 90GB and D will have 9GB.)
 
Backup and reinstall. Or uninstall some programs from the C drive, re-run their setups, and install them to D:.

 
Yep, youll have to backup the files on the 90gb and then Symantec Ghost or Acronis True Image the 9gb onto the 90gb drive, then copy your files back.

You can probably get some space back on the 9gb drive by cleaning the following locations :>

C:\Documents and Settings\User\Local Settings\Temp (clean this out)
C:\Windows\Temp (clean this out)
C:\Windows (delete all the files named like $NtUninstallKB911562$)

That should get you back a few hundred mb
 
Plus turning off system restore, deleting the c:\Windows\$NT**Uninstall directories (unless you plan on removing a windows update patch) and flushing your internet explorer cache.

You might also want to uninstall some of the lagrer programs/games and install them to the d: drive.

I have another question... is there anyway to merge these two drives somewhat like merging two partitions? Again, without losing any data.
 
Im not sure if Partition Magic can merge them, while data is on both, maybe if you had Partition Magic, you could expand the C to 75% of the drives size, then copy the D files to C, then remove the D, then expand C to the full size....

I don't know about merging without losing data, but it's possible to merge two drives to look like one using JBOD.
 
How much space is left on the 90GB drive? What i would do is remove the 9GB drive from the machine, install windows onto the 90GB drive without formatting, then put the 9GB back in and strip windows files from the drive, walah.
