Hi

just received my 1080 GTX Ti (w00t)!

Dell U2713HM Display. was connected with a DVI to my old 680gtx. so I used the supplied DP to DVI adapter.. but the machine is NOT seeing anything higher than 1080p as a resolution? is that an issue going from DP to DVI?

also, I bought this card directly from Nvidia store. is ther a free type app for monitoring temps etc of the card or are those proprietary with EVGA etc cards?

thank you

Just connect with DisplayPort...

MSi Afterburner works with all video cards regardless of manufacturer. If you just want to monitor temps then you can use GPU-Z or HWiNFO64. The latter can monitor temps and voltages from all sensors in your PC.

ahh. ok. well, I discovered this display actually has a DP port..so.. going to run out and find one of those then I guess. thanks guys

damn it.. not a single DP to DP cable at a B&M store within 100 miles! ordered from Amazon .. monday delivery. =( stuck using 1080 til then =(

well.. I was wrong.. found a 6' DP-DP cable at frickin radio Shack of all places.. SUCCESS! w00t

The HDMI-to-DVI adapter that comes with the 1080 Ti is single-link so can only go up to 1920 × 1200.

You can buy a dual-link adapter, but you may be better off with DisplayPort as you have discovered.

Somewhat related problem, I have been using an EVGA 780ti to drive a pair of Qnix 1440p monitors over the dual link DVI ports and everything works perfectly. Since these are the Korean market monitors, they only have a dual link DVI port.

I just purchased a 980ti card and realized that it only has a single DVI port, along with the HDMI and DP ports. I figured it was not a big deal and ordered an HDMI to DVI-D adapter and gave that a try.

I cannot get ANY signal to whatever monitor is attached to the HDMI adapter. I attached an old monitor that has an HDMI port to the video card using a HDMI-HDMI cable and everything works perfect.

Is there a simple way to get my 980ti to drive both of my DVI only monitors?

Thanks

Try DisplayPort instead. Depending on the HDMI version is may not have enough bandwidth or support for 1440P.

I dug a little deeper and most adapters, even those claiming to be DVI-D, can only handle 1080p or 1220p max resolution.

If you want to display a resolution higher than 1200p, the adapters that are proven to work cost $100+ and I hate to spend that much money on a band-aid solution.

I need to decide if it is time to upgrade my monitors, replace one with a 1080p, or stick with my 780ti. The performance is decent, I just wanted more.

Thanks again.

If you're running or plan to run a G-Sync display, Display Port is your only option.

Um. https://www.amazon.com/VisionTek-DisplayPort-DVI-D-Active-Adapter/dp/B00DYRQXMK what's wrong with this one? Read these two https://www.amazon.com/gp/customer-...ef=cm_cr_dp_d_rvw_ttl?ie=UTF8&ASIN=B00DYRQXMK https://www.amazon.com/gp/customer-...viewpnt?ie=UTF8&ASIN=B00DYRQXMK#R4B9V5ZDH5890 reviews. Seems 1440p is OK; problematic reviews come from 30" 1600p monitors but given the first review it seems -- and I am not surprised -- that cable quality plays a huge role. Consider then pairing with a cable https://www.monoprice.com/product?p_id=2686 like this, 24AWG should be enough and it's cheap enough. 28AWG and especially even thinner (too often you'd get a 30AWG cable https://www.amazon.com/Comprehensive-Cables-Standard-DVI-D-DVI-DVI/dp/B003Y7MZKE) is not a good idea while on the other hand the 22AWG SHRD cables costing ten times as much are ridiculous overkill.

I had similar Monoprice cables before, they bend more like a garden hose than a computer cable. So if you need it to bend in a confined space... forget it :)
