Superglue on LCD screen?

Yes,
I said it.

I was working on supergluing a plastic piece back to my laptop and dropped a drop of superglue onto my lcd screen.

am i just SOL, or is there a some kind of solvent that will remove the superglue and not ruin the screen?

That might be worth a try.. uh, unsure about how the monitor will be though. The LCD covering is almost like a plasticy type epidermis texture. Unless you have one of those clearview type screens that look like glass. But from past experiences, I know superglue reacts with plastic and makes it "melt". Good luck..

I work with CA glue (super glues) all the time.

There are only two things that I know of that will remove it. Acetone and Z-7 Debonder Z-7 Debonder . You can find that debonder in most hobby shops that also sell radio controlled airplanes, boats and cars. Acetone you can get at hardware/home centers. Fingernail polish remover also contains Acetone.

Acetone will attack most plastics but not all. I don't know if the debonder will attack plastic or not. Always test in an inconspicuous area first. I use the debonder on wood and the occasional dribble on my Formica counter.

WOW... i feel sorry for the LCD...

Ok i dont think the hot water would do.... it might work with regular glue, but i doubt it'll work on Super Glue...

I personally think u should go with Thinner or some other chemical... and upon finishing u should wash it up with water... But that might/probably will damage the panel, or that particular section of the screen...

Or maybe it might take away the MAT look and turn into glossy!

I've had this problem before, with a Dell laptop ... i removed the super glue for a customer but the area was a ghosty white afterward. She was not please but I made her agree to the risks. She later claimed it on insurance.
