Back again, you guys have helped me with all my builds so why not this one too? here's a link to past threads:

http://hardforum.com/showthread.php?t=1488343

here's my current build:
Case: 800D
Operating System: Windows 7 Home Premium 64bit OEM
CPU: Intel Core i7 920 CPU
Motherboard: Gigabyte GA-X58A-UD3R Intel X58 ATX Motherboard
Power Supply: Corsair GS700
Memory: Corsair 3 x 2GB DDR3 1600 RAM
Hard Disks: Crucial CT128M4SSD2CCA 2.5" 128GB SSD, Seagate esternal 2TB, Seagate external 3TB
Video Card: XFX HD-585A-ZNFC Radeon HD 5850 1GB PCI-E Video Card
Sound Card: on board
Monitor: Dell 2007

I've had this build for four years now and think it's time for something new and improved. I want to upgrade to a monitor that will harness the power of the newer cards. By the time I finish buying everything it will be may/june. So what cards would you recommend for a build taking place within the next few months? Is my current cpu and ram sufficient? I'd like to upgrade to a 256gb-500gb+ ssd but I want the price to stay around $400. I would also like the option of getting a second card later.

thanx as always

First and foremost, you're planning WAAY too early. Our parts recommendations tends to change weekly and sometimes even daily. So if you want an up-to-date build list, your best bet is to ask for advice when you're 1-2 weeks away from buying. Nor is it advisable to buy parts over time unless you're constantly keeping up-to-date on hardware deals and know a lot about computer hardware in general.

Also, I wouldn't bother upgrading the GPU unless you really really really need a performance increase in a game. Though at your low resolution, it's going to be wasting the power of a lot of newer GPUs. In other words, to make a new GPU worthwhile, a new monitor is needed.

Memory: Corsair 3 x 2GB DDR3 1600 RAM
What's the model number of this RAM?

the earliest this build would go down would be april, is that still too early? A new monitor is on the list of things to get. the numbers for the ram are:
