Can anybody tell me if the corsair 450vx would be ok with the hd 4890?.
The HD4890 with an i7 965, 6x DDR3 sticks of RAM, and a single HDD/OD will only pull around 300W at stock clocks, according to reviews I've read.
Thats pretty good.
But unfortunately i will have an e5200 with Hd 4890, 4gb Ram and 1tb hhd not i7 sytem yet.
Sorry, I didn't quite finish that post...
Since an E5200 (65W) pulls half the power of an i7 965 (130W), then a 450W Corsair unit will definitely be enough.![]()
Great, but i been having thoughts about crossfirex and i want a psu that would be able to handle 2 4890 if i actually get them later on.
Now i got another question i need 4 fans a silent as possible but with good cooling. I need 2 120mm fans and 2 60mm fans. There are just too many fans to choose from and i have no idea which are quieter and provide a good air flow.
Are these case fans or what?
Use Yate Loons for the case fans.
Jab-Tech normally have them the cheapest. They can also be found at FrozenCPU, Petra's Tech Shop, and a few other locations for around $4-$6 per fan.
Shipping suck on this places.
Thanks for the info..
DS2R? Nice board.
Could you please post some HDTune screenshots of that 1TB Hitachi when you get it all set up?
As for the HSF, these are popular choices: Cooler Master Hyper 212+ and Xigmatek Dark Knight.

do you have a promo code for this? I would purchase the case also for 25 bucks.
Sweet. Been wanting to see how well that Hitachi drive performs.
I posted the results a few post back. Just so you know.
Yah, looks ok. Hoped it would be faster, but I guess its not using 500GB-platters. Thanks for the pics! Nice paint job. I actually have one of those cases, lol, but I gave it to one of my cousins.
Hehe, 42°C @ load? nice. If and when you decide to OC, just make sure the load temps don't go over ~60°C (ie. you have a lot of headroom).
Nice OC. As you can probably tell, it should go higher. Though, I agree, leaving it at 3.5Ghz should be fine for quite a while.
