I'm a gamer. Here's what I have:

Intel e6300 - need new hsf
Intel DG965WH - bent pins :/ runs okay (i think)
4gb ocz ddr2 800mhz - brand new(keeping)
no video card - thinking 5770ish vid card
550w psu - 8 years old
no harddrive - are ssd's worth it yet or should i consider a 10k rpm harddrive?

I'm kinda on a budget... Id like to spend as little as possible, but i do want it to play the newest games.. so my question - Is this system worth salvaging?

Any help is appreciated.

Thanks!

The bent pins and the old PSU make me pretty nervous about long term stability. The e6300 isn't very fast by today's standards but it might get you by. SSDs will speed up any system but come at a heavy price penalty.

I think it would be best to fill this out: http://hardforum.com/showthread.php?t=1349433

Yeah I'm gonna recommend replacing that PSU as well. That's PSU wasn't all that good in the first place and since you've had it for close to 8 years now, it's more than likely has degraded significantly in power output and power quality. So in other words, you're looking at a new PSU if you want your system to last more than a month without long-term damage.

Do you live near a Microcenter? Or a Fry's?
