Hi guys,

I just finish my first year in uni and start to move in and out quite a bit from now until i finish my degree.

Currently, I have a NZXT Tempest to house my system which consists of a Q6600 (OC to 3.2), 4Gig of Ram, ATI HD4850, a Hard Drive and a Xigmatek Scorpion cooler. And its pretty heavy and awkward to move around so im thinking of building a sfff system instead.

1) What will you be doing with this PC? Gaming? Photoshop? Web browsing? etc
-> Compiling codes, gaming, web browsing
2) What's your budget? Are tax and shipping included?
-> £500-700 ( $700-1000) and yes, tax and shippping included.
3) Where do you live?
-> UK/England/London
4) What exact parts do you need for that budget? CPU, RAM, case, etc. "Everything" is not a valid answer. Please list out all the parts you'll need.
-> CPU, RAM, Graphic card, Case, Hard drive (maybe a SSD)
5) If reusing any parts, what parts will you be reusing? Please be especially specific
about the power supply. List make and model.
-> Reuse my monitor, one 22inch and one 24inch
6) Will you be overclocking?
-> If i can for a abit more juice then sure if not, im not too bothered about it this time
7) What size monitor do you have and/or plan to have?
-> 24inch (1920x1200) and 22inch (1680x1050)
8) When do you plan on building/buying the PC?
-> Sometimes in June/July if i decide the sytem will benefit me
9) What features do you need in a motherboard? RAID? Firewire? Crossfire or SLI support? etc.
-> Nothing in particular
10) Do you already have a legit and reusable/transferable OS key/license? If yes, what OS? 32bit or 64bit?
-> Dual booting Ubuntu 10.04 and Windows 7 but i dont think its tranferable since i got it from MSDN alliance for free as im a computer science student. If i must, i will buy a student version which costs me about £35

You need not to find a UK version price, if you suggest the parts, i will do my homework and look it up in UK online stores for price.

Pretty common build up in the General Hardware subforum:

Phenom II 955 BE CPU
AMD 880G mATX Motherboard (Gigabyte, Asus, MSI)
4GB DDR3 1333 or DDR3 1600 RAM if same price (You can go with the cheapest version/model and you'll be fine)
HD 5770 1GB GPU or HD 5830 or HD 5850 if you can fit it in within the budget
Western Digital WD5000AAKS 500GB HDD
Intel 40GB SSD
Corsair 650HX PSU or XFX 650W PSU

Case wise, a few recommendations:

Oh and you're missing PSU from both questions 4 and 5. Did you need a new PSU or what?
 
ops, yes i plan to give away my pc to a friend so yeah i will need a new PSU!

I will visit general hardware section for someideas. I check out display setting and case moding mostly everytime i visit the forum.

Edit: i like the lian li case, small (about 30cm cube ), light ( aluminium ). I like the list and im gonna stick to it. Cheers
