Lately my PC has started going dead without any last gasp. Just Wham like the power was cut.

I suspect power supply What do you all reckon?

Asus Pk5C

8 Gb Ram

Q6600 Quadcore

A DAbs.co.uk PSU that has a high rating but might just not be delivering.

Graphics CArd is Nvidea 8600

Performance seems dodgy since loading Vista and I am seriosly thinking of turning to mac but dont have the money..

Not familiar with the brand, but you guys have some odd stuff over there in the UK so who knows.

Sounds like the PSU to me; I'd pick up a replacement, ideally from a "known good" brand like Silverstone, Seasonic, PC Power & Cooling, Corsair, etc. and hope it didn't take anything else with it. I'd also reinstall Vista once you get it going, as it's distinctly possible your install was corrupted and that's why performance is shoddy. That setup should do anything but game just fine under Vista; the 8600 is useless for any kind of gaming.

Any link to the PSU do you have?

But I concur with silent-circuit so far: more than likely a PSU problem. However the PSU may have damaged the mobo already assuming that the PSU is crap.

I do have a superior PSU idle so will swap out in the morning. Will outline spec of both PSUs then once I get a closer look at them.

IS there any TEST to see if a MB is still A1?

By the way I am running Vista 64 bit.

Are there generic tools for reading line stabilities to test the theory?

I know your going to say turn of the machine and get that questionable PSU the heck out but what if it were something else? Is there any quick thing I can look at.

OH I completely Forgot

The C drive a 80 gig Raptor had a mishap last week. The Sata connection got strained while I was reconfiguring the box and you know all the plastic around the metallic pins on HD side snapped off. Now they are permanently in the cable in order to keep some sort of connectivity! Could it be this?

Does the C drive (OS drive) falling of the radar cause sudden death?

Wait, what?!? A picture is worth a thousand words. :p

I will tread you to tomorrow.

Am I the only one that has screwed up a few sata harddrives by messing up the connection port on the harddrive. Are they not awful vulnerable.

By the way my graphics is painful? Like on a 1600X2560 screen working in photoshop adjustement layers te effect by bars drawing over and back the image.....

I know I am going to entertain you wit some maverick statements. Truth s I need help big time on my computing. Hope to find it in here. I got a bunch of hardware due in next week . Ne Graphics Card for one.
