I have 2 9800gt's, they require a 6 pin power pin. Now my power supply is a Corsair HX620, and they modular wire is configured with 2 six pin adapters(via 1 with a 6+2 pin). Now here is my question, I think it should work but wanna make sure, can I run both those cards off one modular wire?

What? You want to split the same PCI-E wire to power two cards, is that it?
 
Yes, thats what I wanna do. The cards will be close enough to do it. I powered a 280gtx off one so makes since that it could do 2 9800 gt's.
 
Don't do it, not enough amps on single rail, just use both connections.
 
You need to split them no doubt. I would hate to run 2 cards off one line.
 
HX620 is a single rail PSU so all amps are available on any wire. Wire size and count is also not an issue at these power levels. Are you saying that a single connector on the modular PSU goes out to 2 separate 6 pin PCIe connectors? I would use separate cables if it's not too much trouble but if the wires aren't pulling on the boards i don't see why it would not work with the single split cable.

The Corsair 620HX is a single rail PSU with 50A on its single +12V rail. That's more than enough power for two 9800GT cards. The multiple rating is a misprint on the Corsair label.

You don't need to. You can easily run off both cards off of one power cable with two PCI-E plugs. If it came like that, then it's definitely possible.
 
Thx, with your post Danny I googled and its a "virtual" 3 rails... says no OCP(do not know what that means) but everyone saying its a single rail basically w/50amps.
