ive got this x48 board :- http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16813136047 ( yeh i know the northbridge is an awkward height )

and ive got the ocz reapers on it aswell so they are tall, im also after one that has the push-pins i really cant be bothered getting the whole motherboard out for this when im gonna be pulling it out again in a couple of months for a new water loop.

i know its going to be quite a limited selection lol, but let me know your suggestions... its only going to be cooling this q6600 to 3ghz for now, i would just keep the stock cooler on there now but im hitting like 62c stressing it with Prime for 10 mins... idle is usually 37-39.

So what ? That chip is good for 100C before it even starts complaining it is hot.

If you get in the upper 80's then I would be concerned.

An Artic Freezer pro 7 is a nice low cost, better than stock heatsink but anything you replace the stock one with you need to make sure you have air on the components surrounding the cpu area.

Let prime run for a hour and if under 75C I would not even worry about it, what would you be doing on the machine that would have all 4 cores at 100% for any length of time anyway? If you are running some application that can do that or are in a non-airconditioned room that will get much hotter this summer you might need the AF-7

i looked at that HSF as a cheapo replacement as they've got some open box ones cheap on the Egg, but i think the fan would hit my ram:(

i only do gaming and music stuff i guess im worrying about nothing im just use to running water at lower temps...
