hello:

I have abit ic7 max3 system with 3Gha pentium and 2x512 kingston 4000 RAM.
when the system boots up it gets stuck in post for a very loooong time. eventually it boots up.

This problem happened also many months ago. At that time manually clkearing the cmos fixed the problem. This time even clearing the cmos did not fix it.

I have turned off overclocking and the system is set for default setting. I know the memory timing for the kingston ram is also correct.

What is the likely source of this problem? is it a memory problem?

any ideas?

thanx

I'd go into the integrated peripherals and turn off everything you're not using (SATA, RAID Controller, etc). You can try different memory if you want (don't know what part of the post it is locking at...memory test, IDE detect, etc), or just use 1 stick and see if it works.

How did you reset the CMOS? Did you let it sit for a while to make sure there was no charge left?
