Strange GPU issue

Cold boot this morning. Primary monitor (HDMI) was not getting a signal and the secondary was at windows login screen under low res (as if the drivers were never installed). Checked device manager and both cards were not being read correctly and windows provided a "Code 34" error.

I knew this was not an SLI issue because both monitors and resolution would have been working. Therefore, the primary card must have been causing the issue at a minimum or it is possible the both were done-zo.

I pulled the second card and booted with the primary and everything worked fine. Ok. Weird. Inserted the second card and still fine.

I had OC'd my first card (before I went SLI) for a brief period, but reverted back to stock clocks when I got my second card.

I know anything could have caused this odd boot up but should this symptom warrant a cause for concern? I really don't think both cards are the issue. Possibly the motherboard is on its way out? Excuse to get a z77? :D

But seriously...
 
I had the same thing this morning...but the colors were like they were solarized. Rebooted and it was fine. There's been a few weird issues in the recent drivers...

Crap, you know what? I remember reading about cold boot issues with the new drivers. Happy that it's just that, sad that I wont buy a new mobo.
 
Other that that and the IE9 hardware accelaration issue they've been fine in games and things. :D

Well apart from Mount&Blade. It crashes the driver after a while for whatever reason (but just that game...) I'm going to try going back to 310.70. :D
 
Has to do with the latest Nvidia drivers, I'm in the same boat, I just restart and it's good to go. Pain in the ass, but it's nothing at fault hardware wise.

680 sli here also. I also now have a weird issue in 3D where there is some type of convergence hicup randomly in games. Sometimes it's every 3 seconds, sometimes 30 minutes in between. Very odd. Might roll back, I'm just lazy lol.

Ugh that sucks. I am lazy as well but if I played in 3D I would definitely want the best experience and not let those monitor(s) go to waste. I can't believe NV has not addressed this yet. I read about this issue right when the drivers came out...it feels like weeks ago.
 
Ah I actually have another question but dont feel like making another thread.

I sort of stated earlier that my primary monitor is hooked up via HDMI and my secondary is DVI. In NV control panel is shows that the DVI is "Ancor Communications" 1 of 2 while the HDMI is 2 of 2. But it is still recognized as monitor #1 in the set-up multiple displays panel.

I dont know if this makes a difference but it just makes me feel uneasy.

I just tried to roll back 2 hours ago and ran into a massive issue. No matter what I did, the install of ANY version of the driver would fail. I did all the trouble shooting steps, tried each card on their own, driver sweeper found nothing, and it was just then endless loop of nonsense. Finally I decided for the hell of it to check for anything nvidia. Found and delete C:\NVIDIA. Problem solved. Such a stupid issue that none of the good tools fixed, but a simple delete worked lol. I'm now up and running with 310.70, the little 3D hiccup is gone, as well as the no drivers on cold boot. I'll wait till they fix the issue and update to the next new driver.

Weird. Nvidia is losin it on this one.
