Strange freezing problems...

I recently had a thread on here regarding some hardware issues I had, but with the corruption of the database or whatever, I don't feel like retyping the whole thing, so here is the gist of it.

This is my setup:
ECS NF650iSLIT-A motherboard
Q6600
3GB DDR2 667 RAM
8800GTS 320MB

I recently switched motherboards because my old one was faulty. So I formatted my hard drive. But now my computer has been freezing constantly, not allowing me to do anything, even install an OS. It will freeze at random times throughout the installation. One time I was able to fully install it (Windows 7) but within minutes it froze. I tried using a linux live distro (gNewSense) and it also would freeze at the desktop.

I ran memtest and two of my 3 sticks of RAM came up with errors, after individually running them for 24 hours each. So I took those two out at tried installing Windows with the one good stick of RAM but the problems persist.

Also, after running StressCPU and Mersenne Prime Test from the Ultimate Boot CD, they both stop functioning after about 10-15 minutes and a blank, black screen shows up.

What could the problem be?
 
Faulty motherboard probably. Try a third motherboard and see if the problems still persist.

What PSU are you using?
 
take the psu to your local shop and get them to test it. If its fine it sounds like a bad mobo llike Danny said.
 
Thanks a lot guys. It looks like it was the motherboard. I got a new one and it appears to be working fine now.
 
glad it was such a simple fix. What mobo did you get as a replacement?
