Hello,

Quick question - do certain phones on Straight Talk utilize different carriers' towers? I had heard this mentioned the other day, but wanted to be sure. Does anyone know which phones align with which towers? I want to pick out a smart phone plan for my mother, and I'm recommending she get either an iPhone 4 or greater, or a GSIII.

Assuming the iPhone or GSIII were to use the Verizon towers, would it be locked onto only their network? I had heard Verizon was notorious for "locking" their phones, however what that actually means I am not sure. I'm going to assume if a phone users the T-Mobile towers, it would essentially be a phone she could use internationally. I know Sprint uses the CDMA network just like Verizon, but are those phones "locked" in the same way they are on Verizon?

Lots of questions - any help would be greatly appreciated!

Look on the packaging...CDMA-V is Verizon, CDMA-S is Sprint.

I'm pretty sure the iPhone is Sprint.
