Built a computer yesterday and am tring to load windows 7 on it. Of course the blue screen comes on during the boot procedures and the stop message says "IRQL not less or equal". I've read on the googley that it means that drivers are messing it up OR the hardware is not compatible... I'm almost certain that everything works together but I'll list what I have for a second opinoin:
-intel i52500k
-MSI P67A-G43 B3 MOBO
-GSKILL F3-10666cl9d-4GBRL ddr3
-Sapphire raedon hd6990 VGA
-PSU Corsair 1200AX
-Crucial M4 SSD 128G
-Serial ATA/ 600 HDD 500Gb.

I'm kinda new to building my own rigs so I wouldn't be suprised if there IS something wrong with my setup. The only drivers I have been able to install were the ones for my 6990 and MOBO from the CD's that came in the box. There has been one instance where it actually booted and installed windows however it started giving me the same STOP msg after an hour.
I have disconnected the SSD and the HHD seperately to rule those out, checked connections. Any help would be great, thanks.
 
Follow the stickied "Basic Troubleshooting Guide" and report back with your results.
 
Iv'e already done what I know how to do from the troubleshooting guide. I don't know how to run speed tests and stuff like that, I've exchanged the SATA cables, checked and rechecked that the connections are good, it's not a short, the only driver's I've installed are the ones for the 6990 and MOBO, that came with the boxes. Nothing is overheating... The only thing I can think of is that I overlooked the compatability of the hardware?
 
[Testing the RAM]
Download Memtest86+ v4.20 or whatever the latest version is, unzip it, burn the ISO file to a CD, and then boot from it, just like you would do with the XP/Vista install CD. Let Memtest+ run for at least 15 passes with ZERO errors on each stick of RAM separately as well as test the RAM all together. Go for a full 24 hours if you want to be completely sure that the RAM is not a problem. If you start seeing errors, than your RAM is defective or you have incorrect settings for the RAM.

[Testing the Hard Drive]
Download the CD image of Hitachi Drive Fitness Test, burn the ISO file to a CD, and then boot from it, just like you would do with the XP/Vista install CD. Test the hard drive and see if any problems are found. DFT will run on most manufacturers' hard drives. Alternatively, you can use Seagate's SeaTools for DOS to test a Seagate or Maxtor drive. For a Western Digital drive, you could use Data Lifeguard Tools for DOS to test a Western Digital drive. For a Samsung drive, you could use Samsung's ES-Tool.

In addition, do a fresh-install of Windows 7 but without the drivers for the GPU and motherboard from the CD. Download the latest drivers for those parts and use those instead.
 
Sorry, I'm confused. The BSOD came DURING win7 installation? If so, I'd definitely test the RAM and HDD first.
Did you try installing with only a single stick of RAM?
Did you try setting the RAM timings/voltages manually?
I'm assuming you installed windows onto the SSD. What were your SATA controller settings? AHCI? RAID?
Did you try installing windows onto the HDD instead?
