Stock Voltage Overclocking

Am I the only one on this forum that likes to overclock using stock voltages instead of pushing a system all the way to its limits? Most of my overclocks are just straight up bumping the bus speed to the next "natural" threshold (66 -> 100 -> 133 -> 166) while keeping the voltages at stock. I guess my philosophy is to get a cool, quiet, fast, and stable system for 24x7 usage. Anyone else with me on this?
 
it all depends on the processor.. some overclock great at stock voltages and some dont... or you just straight up get addicted to overclocking and just dont care how far you push it til you reach the cpu's max overclock..
 
Sure, there are no rules, I could go faster but it does not buy me anything in my games or apps so while I am not stock I am well below the "ragged edge". Went there looked around, took some pictures and then back to my nice safe and semi-sane place.

OP - go head, just 10% increase in voltage and see how much more you can get in speed. Awww come on, all the cool kids are doing it. Look its free, wont cost you anything. Go ahead, try it. Chicken !!!! I heard Mary-lou likes it too. She is not even going to look at you unless you try it too. Come on, you know you want to. Stock is for suckers why else would Intel give an Absolute Max Vcc number in the data sheet if we are not susposed to increase Vcc a bit. Dude, I will give you your first set of bios settings just dont tell anyone and they dont need to know.
 
I did the same thing for my HTPC with an E5200. I set the CPU voltage to [Normal] as opposed to Auto, and then adjusted the FSB and CPU multiplier until I got an Orthos stable OC. Now it runs at 3.2 Ghz with Speed Step and EIST enabled.

Locking in the stock (normal) voltage can give a nice performance bump with a minimal impact to heat and power consumption.

LOL. I totally can understand the allure. I want to try it myself, just to see if I can do it. But I can also see myself coming back down a good bit, once I have danced on the edge.
 
I believe theres a happy medium, but hell, if at 1.5v my processor would hit 4ghz I'd do it.

If your an enthusiast and looking for performance, its worth the risk of shortening the lifespan on your processor. Computer parts depreciate so fast, you might as well get the most out of them while there still competitive.
