Still no 7870's?

There was some on Newegg over the weekend that sold out quickly. From what I read there is going to be a extremely tight supply at launch. Get one while you can if more pop up.

yeah there is only the gigabyte one available I believe it sold out fast..

just wait for kepler then buy one thats what im doing.. I bet i'll get the 7870 for 300 or 320

I want the Powercolor PCS+ 7870 myself, which according to Anandtech's review will be about $20 more than MSRP so were looking at about $389 for that card....which might be to expensive. The 7950 is now about $420

A lot of reviewers got good clocks on their cards. May not be worth the $20+ premium for the card.

I have a feeling we will not see any 7850 or 7870's for at least another week....I wonder if ATI is holding onto them to spoil the GTX 680 release somehow...

As others have mentioned, there are a few of them out there, though I haven't actually seen them in stock. It's kind of weird that there wasn't an official launch. I mean, it wasn't like at midnight all the etailers were suddenly selling them. Amazon and newegg only have pages for a couple of manufacturers like gigabyte or sapphire. Oh and they all seem to be above the MSRP which is kind of frustrating when the MSRP was already higher than I would have liked.

Newegg has saphire 7870s and 7850s up right now. Still says they're in stock as of this post.

I doubt AMD would do that since, they'd probably want to sell as many as possible before the competition arrives. What if the 680 ends up being way better and cheaper than the 78XX's - then they wouldn't be able to sell jack shit.

I think he's trying to point out that TSMC halted production of all 28nm chips which the 7 series GPU's from AMD are based on and that is why we're not seeing a whole lot of the 7800s available for purchase at retail. There's some, but not a whole lot.

Yup, there was some stock of 7900's and 7700's but since the 7800's were the "new stuff" their stock was much smaller, and thus it got depleted fast.

Gotta wait for the new shipment of cards to arrive worldwide after the 28nm production line at tsmc restarts.

why buy one of these now ? I mean the 7870 will end up being 300 soon with kepler coming...

Dude, who in the world would buy 10 7870s? I don't think they have to worry about that one.

It clearly went right over your head. I cited limit 10 per customer because I couldn't give the total number of cards they have in stock like I did with the 7850.

Early benches show the 680 on par with the 7970 and it will cost the same. People believing that fanboy fantasy about Kepler coming to save their wallets are in for a doze of reality.

Yah man, I wasn't talking trash to you for providing the information. I was just wondering why newegg needed to even put that condition on the 7870s becuase I don't think any average end user would buy that many.

You'd be surprised. Ebay resellers actually snapped a whole bunch of 7970s and resold 'em on ebay at severely gouged prices. I remember someone had the gall to do it here on the forums, lol.
They also put a limit on products that are in short supply which seems to be the case with these cards. I mean 29 7850s?, those are going to sell out rather fast.

P.S: There are now only 8 7850s left.

At least you can get them :| still not available in canada from canadian distributors or retailers...

The egg will sell em through their .ca site, but they are charging the canadian sucker tax of higher price for the card, and double the shipping.

Dam should I buy one right now?!?! So you guys don't think kepler will lower these prices?

All 7850s sold out. Can't tell how many 7870s left but there's at least 10 in stock. Personally I do not believe kepler will lower prices at all. And if it does, those price drops will not happen anytime soon.

Naw, with low stocks and only decentish yields i wouldn't hope for lower prices until let's say 2months go by after Kepler.

Sucks? you betcha.

The powercolor reference model is in stock both the 7850 and 7870. Although I want the PCS+ one...

I don't see Kepler lowering the prices on the 78XXs at all.

basically this. As far as i know Nvidia is launching one card the 680, and it should be near 7970 prices.

They will continue to sell 580's and 570's. So the market for the 7870 doesn't really change much.

I still have not ordered my 2 7870's yet. Waiting to see reviews of the different models. I saw a review of the powercolor pcs which looked good. Still waiting for reviews of the saphire and gigabyte cards.

I just want the cards which are the quietest and offer good cooling, to improve the chances of getting a good overclock and not be annoying at the same time. I regret going with reference 6870's, they are kinda loud in cross fire and overclocked.

Just a heads up. But I spoke with someone from NCIX USA and they are supposed to get some powercolor pcs+ 7870's in Friday March 23rd. For those of you looking anyway. And they have only bumped up the price by $10 for them. So its only $359

Been searching for 7870s or 7970s here in So Cal for a week, nothing on the shelves at fry's or microcenter...

I think i might wait for price drops now, seems kepler might shake things up. If rumors hold true, it makes the 7950 seem overpriced. Seems like amd needs $50 price drop throughout.

If prices don't drop, oh well, kind of thinking of waiting anyways to do new ivy build.

You guys think the reviews and pricing of the new Geforce 680 will impact (drive down) the pricing of all the current line up of the new Radeons?
