Steps to upgrading CPU?

I have a Evga 680i SLI SE and i have a stock C2D E4400 CPU in it and was thinking about upgrading to a Q6600 CPU. But can someone give it to me in steps for upgrading the CPU. Like do i need to reinstall or take the CMOS battery out? and for how long?
 
- Update the BIOs
- Set everything relating to the CPU in the BIOs to default values
- Turn off the PC
- Remove the HSF
- Remove the E4400
- Put in the Q6600 or E8400
- Go into the BIOS, update or fix any settings
