Way better than the Steam Daily Deal that went on for the holidays... Armored Princess was on sale for $9.99 but The Legend was never on sale for the price it is today - $4.99 and if you haven't gotten either yet, get both for $11.25

The turned base combat appeals to me. But when I grabbed the demo, the rainbow and ponies atmosphere was a turn off. Is Legend a little less rainbow and ponies?

Nice... never heard of this but at this price, I may check them out. Great to see deals during the week now as well.

It's basically HOMM atmosphere if you get into it a bit, as it's a remake of the series that spawned those games! The game is amazing and the first is pretty much endless.

The first game played easier and smoother IMO. This one has dead zones.

Sometimes youll be at a level and not be able to find anything in your level range to level on. You have to fight super hard stuff and constantly replace your troops until you level a bit... or cheat. I've hit two such gaps sofar before level 25. One of the times I had to cheat and give myself more money as it slowly wore away all of my cash. Now at 28 I can spank everything I cross, even "invincible" with no losses.

I just had to see this thread lol... went ahead and purchased it, thanks OP, really... THANKS :D

Damn. . .happened again.

I bought Armored Princess (I already had KB) before the holidays when it was on sale for $26.99. Doesn't seem like such a good deal now.

I've lost about $21 so far due to steam having better sales on games AFTER I buy them, not so bad I guess...

I think chainmail bikinis and ponies is more accurate. I don't remember any rainbows... but I haven't played much of it yet.

Perhaps you chose the rainbow dragon helper instead of the one who melts your enemies with molten fire at the command of the chick on the pony with the impossibly flat stomach wearing the chanmail/plate/regular bikini. Who knows.

Legend still has ponies, but has a Swedish rocker for a protagonist. He can get married and have children and have his assets taken in divorce.

Just remember: you're playing a turn-based tactics game developed by clinically insane Russians. Ponies and Rainbows are the least of your problems (I also hear it can get REALLY hard later in the game).

Its a safe bet for them to put something on sale that's already been on sale.

Get as many sales as possible at $40 or $50, then as many at $25, then as many at $10, etc.

Jump right to $10 and you lose those potential $25 sales.

The Rainbows was in reference to the technicolor vomit that was the openning setting for the demo. Couldn't stand it in Warcraft and I wish everyone would stop copying Blizzard for any game that has a sword in it.

Cartoon porn also doesn't do it for me either, so the outfit is meh.

I may have finally found a ridiculous sale on Steam that I can pass on. Having never played a HOMM game, I have no clue if I would enjoy it...wait....I have a demo.

Note to self. Stop browsing [H]ot Deals section of the forum. Bad for pocketbook.

I was a HOMM diehard since the 1st one was released long, long ago. Played the hell out of the 1st and 2nd in the series.

Don't enjoy the depth anymore, but did find KB to be a perfect balance between my lack of interest in "hard' games, and memory lane.

In for the Gold Edition!

Legend was fun, one time through. I didn't find it that replayable but for $4.99 absolutely get it if you like homm. Who cares about graphics/ponies/colors? I'm gonna check out AP.

It is a toss up; KB-TL is longer and more cohesive (better game imho) but KB-AP mechanics and esp items are more abundant/interesting.

I played KB-TL 6 or so times (once to many and it has gotten stale). I figured I would play KB-AP three times (once each class). I'm almost done with the 2nd play and unsure if I want to play again. (KB-TL difficulties were normal, hard, hard, impossible, impossible, impossible) and KB-AP has been normal, hard. I had intended to play the third game on impossible but a bit undecided the curve in KB-AP is weird and around level 15-25 it gets very difficult also one of the boss fights (there are 5 of them) is rather difficult so I'm unsure I want to struggle on impossible; but conversely the game is too easy near the end.

if i was to buy just one of these. which would it be?

I bit and bought both for $11.25. I have been playing Dragon Age Origins on my Xbox 360 and have really been enjoying the game. Hopefully KBL and KBA will give me a similar gameplay experience.

Yeah, thanks for the tip. I've been wanting Armored Princess and now thanks to this sale I got it. So far I'm enjoying it, there are some small improvements over the first one.

This is a great deal, I got Amoured princess back during the Christmas sale for 19 bucks and didn't regret it a bit.

Now you can get both The first one + the expansions for 11.25, you'd be crazy not to get it if the games interest you.

For those that haven't heard of the games they are Turn-based fantasy rpg/adventures. Think of the Heroes of Might and Magic series, very similar (though the original King's bounty came out before them).

If you (like me) already bought the xpansion when it was on sale you ocan snag King's bounty the legen for just 4.99.

The sale started yesterday and ends today, not sure wh at time.

edit - Posted already, my bad, mod delete/lock plz.

uhh..i guess the screenshot of the bf2 collection on sale is from a while ago..still showing 29.99 for me...boo

Anyone know if king's bounty lets you control multiple armies on the main exploration maps? Or are you limited to just the main character?

You get 5 groups of units (one army) and that's it. The unit is commanded by your main character--you never see the main character as a single unit during combat, you're always "behind-the-scenes" leading.

Thanks, that saves me some money. Probably would have bought it if you could have multiple armies but with only one, there's not a lot of strategy to be had on the overworld map. I think that King Arthur game will be more my speed once some more patches come out.

Yeah, it's more of a tactics game. The 'over world' is basically the RPG part that isn't turn based and just involves getting and doing quests.

There's some element of strategy in having 2 reserve unit types that you can swap out with one of the 5 army slots and how you advance your character and equipment, but the combat part of the gameplay is just done as a tactics battle army vs. army(or boss).

I played it some more last night. It's nothing grand or paradigm challenging, but a good tactics game.
