Star Wars: The Force Unleashed - 75% off - $7.50

I don't know much about the game, maybe someone can comment

Anyway if you like star wars it should be a good week

I was waiting for Force Unleashed to go on sale. Always wanted to play it.
Not a Star Wars fan but I did enjoy Republic Commando on the original XBOX.
One of the few games on XBOX that had dedicated server support. 30 player Deathmatch was sick!

LOL
What a classic game.

Best starwars game IMO is ps2 version of Battlefront 2

For $7 its a good deal. It requires a powerful system to run well, but its still fun. I would recommend using a controller with it to get the most out of the gameplay. Playing it with a keyboard and mouse just feels weird somehow, like they messed up setting up that control scheme.

I could never get into Battlefront, either of them. Always felt like a cheap knock-off of Battlefield to me with some really piss poor controls.

the only good games where the old jedi knight games.

they keep to make the game simpler and simpler.

the first jeda knight was more complex but yet u can make the light saber control do so much more!

man; I just grabbed this last week from Direct2Drive for the same price. I should totally learn that when it goes on sale over there, it'll be on steam soon...

oh, well. Not worth buying it again... Definitely going to keep my eyes peeled for some of the other games I've missed out on over the years.

The gameplay was kinda meh, so I couldn't get into it. Also, it was probably the most ridiculously hugigantorious game I ever installed so far.

This will only interest me if they bring X-wing VS Tie Fighter to steam, there have been no decent flight games since that and wing commander...

I recommend this game for anybody who's halfway interested in a good star wars story.

The storyline kept me playing this game. The smashing stuff with force powers was just icing on the cake. Looking forward to the next one coming out later this year.

How pray-tell would they do that? In no way would it run on modern systems without some serious alterations. Not to mention they would have to completely re-do the multiplayer part of the game to work now days. I don't think it would be worth the cost to them. You see people asking for the game now and then, but its not a huge demand.

Sadly Aspyr is doing the PC port of the sequel as well. I'm gonna pick up the PS3 version I think. I don't trust Aspyr to make a port even near as good as the first one. Their port of Force Unleashed is quite literally the best port they have ever done.

Good luck making it through 5 mins of that game. It is hard locked at 30fps. I uninstalled it after 10 mins and I am a HUGE star wars fan.

Star wars Rebellion!!! i loved that game and pod racer! i would buy those and even install VM just to play them on windows 98.

I'd say stay away from the steam version of this. I think it just installs the whole star wars collection or something and you unlock the games by buying them. 30gb required. The reason I ignored it during the other steam sales.

You mean like they did for Dark Forces?

Didn't Like Freespace, Freespace 2, Freelancer or the X Series (notably X3)? CHARLATAN!

Its a 25GB download. It is NOT the entire collection. If buy the game retail it still requires 25GB.

What about Dark Forces? They didn't update a thing. Dark Forces runs off of DOSBox. XvT is a Windows 95 or 98 game. Pretty sure it doesn't work on Vista or Win7 systems. Not sure about XP, but it might.

well then stay away from the pc version in general then. The game is better with a controller anyways. Thats obscene to have a game take 25gb of storage.

I bought it as well, only complaints are the 29.9 gig download size, and I believe it's capped at 30FPS.

I wanted to like X3. I liked the idea, I bought the game but it is way too complex to be fun. I want to grab my flight stick, fly around, and blow up baddies. Instead I'm expected to run an interstellar corporation from my cockpit :p.

Well two things:

1) Shiny graphics take lots of space. If you want detailed textures, varied level design, good cutscenes and so on you need to have a lot of space.

2) HDDs are cheap, deal with it. 25GB is nothing. 2TB HDDs go for $130.

The space isn't taken up by detailed textures, level design, or cutscenes. It's mostly taken up by uncompressed audio files.

And IIRC, remnants of the XBOX version when it was ported over. It was probably the worst port job in the history of ports...

Not even close. Force Unleashed is the best port Aspyr has ever done and there are FAR worse ports out there. RE4 and DMC3's ports make Force Unleashed look like a polished PC exclusive in comparison.

I'll take uncompressed audio. I am sick of everything being 96k OGG files just to save a little space. I'll take some nice high def audio to go on my nice speakers.

Regardless, large though it may be it doesn't really matter. That isn't a major amount of space.

It's the price of a fast food value meal. stop yer bitchin

it played fine aside from a couple control anomalies in the menu system. I played with a $15 logitech controller and the controls were fine.

it took a lot of space, so what? is anybody here really tight on space? (SSDs aside....I have a boot SSD but this game is installed on my HDD)

It is very well possible, they did it for all the command and conquer games? Its more just a "look at me" stunt, to get the older crowed loving the company anyways.

Bit on the deal, even though I already played the 360 version.

Hopefully they put KOTOR on sale. I own a copy but would like it on Steam too.

Battlefront 2 is HOw old and they STILL want freakin 20$... screw all of that..

I loved this game, and is easily worth the $7.50.
It's one of the only games I have gone back to play through the harder levels, and has nothing to do with the 'achievements.'
The graphics are nice, though it IS an inefficient console port, plus the lack of AA is frustrating, but motion blur gets rid of most of the jaggies when moving.

Most memorable moment, not to give anything away, was using the force on space ships of all sizes, and playing through both endings.

Decided to bite for $8. I've played parts of it and it is fun enough to warrant this much investment, but even at $7.50 I'd say pass unless you think it's something you're going to enjoy, or if you just want a decent Star Wars story to bridge the film trilogies. Definitely wouldn't be worth any more than this though!
