That part could be just false:
t's 4K in the X. It's 1440 on the S. We do lock it at 30,

And the usual dynamic 900p to 1200p upscaled being called 4k, otherwise seem a bit strange to not offer half the resolution upscaled at 60fps mode.

If they pull off 30fps at 1440p native on an Xbox S and 4k on the X looking close to the previews, kudos too.

As long as fps is uncapped on PC I'll be happy. It was in previous games so I suspect it should be fine.

It's Bethesda, it'll be 144 frames per hour, stuttering, between crashes.

At least until somebody else fixes it.
Eventually we'll have enough AI tool integration that you'll have settings that keep ANY news of ANY release that you have flagged as "Tell me about it in 6 months when it's patched" -- then all of a sudden your AI web browsers like, "Hey, btw, They released Cyberpunk 2077 - it had some gamebreaking bugs but they are mostly fixed. You want to check it out? "

Think about some of the tensor hardware in your machine setting up and tracking all of the NPCs in a certain range of your character, voices, text and behaviours all being generated and operated buy a few buzzword cores on your home PC. The potential applications are so massive. That's all off topic though, your enhanced search engine being able to keep an eye on a game to check the temperature of public sentiment is a fantastic early use.

Especially for cheap bastards like me that only buy GOTY editions for 20 bucks with all the BS fixed.

It was just false (unless they very surprisingly and strangely end up doing 4k between now and release):

Classic console 4k: 1296p, FSR2 balanced mode, probably below 900p for the S, which make more sense and would explain the 30fps choice.

We can expect people call it a bad port when they have only low 40fps at 1080p with higher detail on a RTX 3070/6700xt, even if it perform exactly on par or better than on consoles.

It wouldn't be a Bethesda game without the Poltergeist bug. I know in my heart of hearts its still lurking around somewhere in that damned Gambryo code, no matter how "updated" it is!
What is the Poltergeist bug? I never played through anything of theirs much but Oblivion .

Oblivion was a shinning example of it.

So, the Gambryo engine has its physics tied to its frames per second. There's a magic framerate that makes things that are usually stationary in the game start to shoot around the all over the environment (Plates , Fruit, pots & pans pretty much anything not nailed down by code.) Its been dubbed the poltergeist bug. There is also a flickering problem when you're in the water at high frame rates You'll see the screen flicker and hear sounds of water splashing.

I believe the magic framerate number is 122+ frames per second.

Ah... Back when I played it at launch at 1680x1050 and later 2560x1600, 122+ frames per second wasn't exactly doable :).
