Did stanford make some changes again, or are there new proteins that are maybe worth more than they should be?

The past three weeks I've had 1.5 times my normal points in a given week, and I didn't add any boxen or anything.

At first I thought it was because I had been using my work computer less lately, but I definitely don't think it was less enough to cause THAT kind of jump.

Thoughts?

I've noticed a lot more of the Tinkers around lately than usual. With the number of AMD boxes around here, that will make the points seem to go up a lot. I currently have two AMD XP boxes and a PIII 700 running. They have been putting out a good number of points lately. Part of my increase is that I no longer have a Tbird 1.33 @ 1.4 but have replaced it with an XP1800+ Palomino. The extra 133 mhz and increased IPC has helped my score a bit. Also, the XP1800 is running 24/7 while the T-bird only ran about 12-16 hours a day. I will say that my points have gone up a lot with all the Tinkers. Not to mention some of the Gromacs I was getting were taking forever compared to the points they were putting out. It would take no time at all to put out say a 23 point Gromac while a 22 point Gromac would take up to 50% longer to crunch on my AMD. That was just something for an example I don't remember what proteins or points they actually were. Not getting those has increased my production also.

I only have the one AMD box though, and I don't think it could explain an extra 700 points a week, even if it WAS getting all tinkers.

oh well, no complaints here I guess, I was just curious

I've noticed a few gromacs that seem to have higher points then previous ones taking the same time. Seems a bit more balanced now.

i've been getting a lot of 400s (240 points) recently, 3rd in a row on my lapper. these are tinkers, yes?

too bad they take around 2 days to do :(

The 400 frame proteins are Tinker cores. The 100 fram proteins are Gromacs.

It usually takes about 28-30 hours to crunch a Tinker on the rig in my sig. It takes approximately 150 hours to crunch one on my PIII 700 at work. This is also when the systems are not used for anything other than folding though. When my work system is in use, it raises the time by a large amount. The rig in my sig doesn't take anywhere near as big of a hit when being used although it does take a bit longer to complete.

Blanket statements such as this only confuse reality.
From the psummary page
http://vspx27.stanford.edu/psummary.html
There are "common" Tinkers with 80, 100, 200 (p618) and 400 frames. All Gromacs presently seem to be 100 frames.
Thus if it's a Gromacs it has 100 frames, but a Tinker may have 100 frames.
As far as time - What is time ?
Credit for Timkers run's from about 50 to 250 points, in theory the 250 pointers take 5 times as many cycles.
Right now I've got at least two 242 point Tinkers and one 37 pointer running.

You need to work out your Points per Hour per Ghz.

For my AMD XP's its approx.....
Tinkers 3.5 PpHpG.
Gromacs 2 PpHpG.
DGromacs 1.5 PpHpG.
My Opterons fold Gromacs 15% faster than XP's.
Theres no speed increase with Tinkers and they have yet to pick up a DGromac one.

So if I only get Tinkers I can see a 75% increase in points per hour when they get sent in.

Luck......... :D
