SSD RAID 0 w/ TRIM?

That isn't entirely accurate. Intel controllers that are set to RAID 0 with mechanical drivers can pass TRIM commands to SSDs that are NOT a part of the RAID group but attached to the same controller. There was a lot of confusion about this when the drivers were first announced. As far as I can tell, nobody has drivers yet that pass TRIM commands down through to the individual drivers.

dlphenal is correct.. Basically what that means is if you have 2 mechanical drives in raid 0 on a controller with 3 or more ports & then have a SSD hooked up to another port the TRIM will still work on that SSD. The SSD however is not part of the raid array. From what I understand nobody has an ETA on when we will have TRIM working on a drive while it is in a raid array..
Keep in mind however that even though the OS controlled TRIM doesn't work the native garbage collection on the SSD's still work.. So if your wanting to run a pair of SSD's in raid 0 with top performance over time make sure you get SSD's with good GC (the crucial c300 series is tops here if I remember correctly)

If that is the case, then why is my brother in laws intel SSD's in raid 0 have trim enabled

They can have TRIM enabled but they won't be getting commands to run it.

All modern SSD's have some native garbage collection. Best of which from what I have read is actually the crucial c300 series followed very closely by intel.
