SSD RAID 0 stripe size?

64k seems to give the best sustained read/write speeds in most benchmarks I've seen--but not with 6 drives, usually 2-3. I don't see much benefit in optimizing for random/seek times, since the times are SSD-limited already (vs. with mechanical drives).

Disclaimer: I'm not running SSD RAID0 arrays.

Why not set up some benchmarks and test your 6 disk array at various stripe sizes? I'd be curious about the results. :)
 
I've benched the crap of the stripe sizes on every RAID0 set of SSDs I've had (I've had a bunch.) 128 still seems to be the fastest. As I go down in size, sequential is what takes the hit, but the other metrics are typically the same. I typically don't see any metric improve as I go down in size.
Some have found 64 to be ok as well, but not me. I also run 64k block unit allocation sizes on my arrays. Over time, it does keep the drive less fragmented. Yes yes I know SSDs don't suffer from fragmentation the same way spinners do, but fragmentation is fragmentation. Latency is latency.

The 128 has the best all-around performance and I've been playing with SSDs since the first generation of consumer models arrived. ;)

Me too - way early adopter and have loved the past five+ years of it! Now there's a guy that goes by the name 'Bill Gates' on XS, OCZ and many other storage forums - I'm pretty sure he swears by 64k stripe sizes. I can only speak to my experience. Maybe he'll show up with some better techno-babble to support 64k stripe sizes. BG? I know you're out there.... :p

I'm 61 and it feels like just a "wink and nod" from yesterday but I just checked some of my saved SSD purchase receipts and you're right! :D

Not going to because the chipset/bus will choke before the drives will. The tests and results are out there already.
