This games concept seems fun. I was wondering if anyone here has any experience in this game and if so, would you recommend it at its current sale price? :D

I remember avoiding over the whole DRM thing at the time of release, I am curious if they remedied this and if the game is any good as well.

If it's on sale, I'd say get it. My wife and I had a blast playing it together, though the game kinda fizzles out in the space stage.

I'm also wondering if the complete pack @ $20 is worth it compared to vanilla Spore @ $7.50. I can't really see the complete pack being below $12 next sale ($5 + $5 + $2 for the three parts), whereas without a sale the two extra part are $50, or still a whopping $25 @ 1/2 off.

I heard stellar things about this game pre-release, but then all that buzz fizzled after word of mouth got around, IIRC.

Spore got worse as you progressed through it.

Cell stage, very cool, I'm evolving, customizing, living.

Space stage, RAWR TAKE OVER THE UNIVERSE, MAKE MY SPACESHIP INCREMENTALLY BETTER USING MONEY I EARN SELLING FUNNY-COLOURED "SPICE" IN A VAGUE DUNE REFERENCE.

The first few stages were cool, at the point where you need to build a base... horrible.

The problem with Spore was that EA dumbed it down insanely to make it kid-friendly. If you watch any of the early tech demos, the game would easily have been one of the best games in the history of ever.

Instead, we got a crappy game that got very boring and tedious near the end. I wouldn't recommend it, but maybe I'm jilted because I was in love with the game concept years before it was ever released.

Calling it a game is a bit of a stretch, it's got some very shallow and weak game mechanics on top of a very good tech demo.

Sporing.

I played it a while back because I liked the concept (not really my kind of game however) I liked the opening bit...(the bacteria pool) and then the second level for a while with the creatures...but then the "game" is so so short (and long).

First level...15 minutes
Second level....30 minutes
Third Level....15 minutes
Forth....30 minutes
Last....132450 hours (of repitition)

The building creatures part is good. The opening stages are good. Some of the other parts can be quite good. Just the last part...it does lack depth and purpose. I've not tried the galactic adverntures whatever part so can't comment on that. It might be what the game needs.

EEEEHHHHH. Definitely not for what they want for it on steam right now. Game was pretty bad.

It was OK. I liked the beginning stages a lot and, like most others, hated it when it got to the later stages (4th or 5th stage). Actually, I wonder if anyone has made any sort of mods for it. It's got a lot of potential and the flaws can easily be fixed if it was somewhat mod-friendly.

If it's under 20.00, I'd say to go for it. It's a cool casual game but don't expect a masterpiece. If it didn't have the hype surrounding it prior to release, it probably would of been as criticized as it is.

Oh, and my other pet-peeve about it, the framerate is locked at 30fps.... very very lame.

Blame Will Wright and Maxis. They had pretty much free reign to do what they wanted due to all the money Sims makes.

I enjoyed it, but for me, it got old fast. It's a GREAT intro to 4x type space trading games for the youngin's or "casual" game players. Not a whole lot of depth, and the learning curve is really easy making it fun and not a hair-pulling experience.

I think I will go a head and skip this one based off of what I keep reading here lol. I will save my $20 for another sale. Thanks guys.

I was really excited about the game when it released. I was so horribly disappointed, however. As others have mentioned, the game lacked depth. All of the 'stages' of the game felt like they were a bunch of mini games, combined into a single package.

The biggest disappointment was that even though the creatures were so extremely cool, your choices didn't mean shit. No matter how you created your creature, the game played exactly the same.

I wouldn't recommend getting it. Unless it's like $5.

yeah I would not bother with any of the addons, the base game might be worth your while from the bargain bin but don't pay extra for anything else. basically what happened was they admit their failure and turned it into a straight up children's game, that's what all the extras like 'galactic adventures' and misc nickle and dimers are aimed at, just kids accessories and mindless clicking.

This game looked so awesome before it came out, then I read all the bad reviews.... ):
