Splitting a DVI-D cable to use two monitors

Hello,

I need to get two 23" monitors on a very limited budget and I am looking at the Dell S2316M. The issue is that it only has VGA and DVI connections. I will be running them off a GTX 1070 video card, which only has one DVI output. Is it possible for me to use a splitter to use the one DVI port on the 1070 to run two DVI monitors? Or is that just wishful thinking?

get a display port to DVI dongle (I have several for $8 shipped) or a DP to DVI cable, or the HDMI to DVI adaptor (I have those too)

That's what I'm doing with mine, they're passive so they're very cheap.

Unfortunately the video card only has one HDMI port as well, but it has three DisplayPorts so I guess I will use those.
