Splinter Cell: Blacklist

I've played almost all the side missions on Perfectionist, except for COOP and Charlie's (hate hoard mode) and gotten Gold on everything so far. I noticed on some of the missions if you capture the high value target, it screws up your chance at Gold. Not sure why that is, but it will require a second play through for me.

this is because some of them (ie. all of Grim's 4E missions) have conflicting goals, so they have to be played at least twice to meet all the objectives. do the main ones first to get the gold, like completion without disturbing any guards, then go back for the target bonuses.

So, I'm a little confused. When you're in the darkness your lights glow, right? (Doesn't make logical sense, but game mechanic...okay). Yet, guys are still able to see me from quite a ways away even in darkness. Stealth mechanic seems a little broken in this regard.

Perfectionist difficulty, so maybe that's part of it. Still, in the old games you could do pretty much whatever you wanted in the dark.

not broken but just not a binary state, as far as I can tell it works on a function of distance and ambient light. like in broad daylight they'll more easily spot you in shadows the closer they get, and during night time/indoor ops you might be able to hide right under their noses. then on perfectionist where all the ai values are jacked up like fov, reaction time, line of sight, etc. they just spot you that much quicker. so the led indicators are only good to tell if you're actually sitting in a shadow, which just means you're getting hidden to a certain degree depending on what mode you're playing.

rage inducing at first especially in variable lit maps like the hacker's den, where sunlight reaching indoors can make it hard to tell how bright it is, but once you figure it out this makes way more sense. I like it not just because it's more realistic but it also adds another layer of strategy, you have to change it up in well lit places and make faster decisions. on perfectionist you should just always play as if there's a chance to be spotted when they have line of sight, since this is usually true unless it's pitch black.

also I think there actually is a bug having to do with proximity, you'll notice that sometimes they go on alert for a second when really close even though they can't actually see you, doesn't get you caught but it can mess up patrol patterns. sometimes they just stop for a second and sometimes they'll bug out and get frozen, until you distract them with something else.

Eyefinity seems to work in the campaign missions, but not 4E missions and the rest. That sucks.

I wonder if it's because they have concerns over an unfair advantage? I say fuck it, go buy some damn monitors if you want to be competitive. It's 2013, monitors are cheap. The technology exists, it's makes the experience much richer, why hold the technology and it's users back?

I don't think that's an Eyefinity or a tech issue. Probably a driver/software issue of some kind.

Why? Because Eyefinity is working for you on the campaign missions. If it weren't working at all I'd be more suspicious.

Unless I'm missing a detail here.

Another weird thing, when I play as sam I have no iron pistol sites. When the game makes me play as Griggs, I have iron pistol sites. I tried stripping all optics and the laser from sam's pistol.

So anyone Ghost Gold "Private Estate" on perfectionist without disturbing anyone yet? My best is two dogs and only two guards, but was a sliver short of Gold. That mission is tough! I LIKE IT! I swore a lot, don't get me wrong, but I still like it. ;)

I would love to see this too, when came the escort sequence I just assumed it was impossible. how would you even get away with just 2 guards, there are about 6 agents you absolutely need to take down on your way out, unless they don't count towards the total? in which case yes it's doable just damn hard, if only because of those 2 dogs, damn annoying dogs always messing up my run.

EDIT: Set Uplay to offline mode to get around present glitch people are having.

Figured I'd drop this question in here instead to keep the topic with other discussion of the game.. Just picked this game up and have a minor issue.. Game is updated to 1.03 and it plays fine.. In order to take screenshots with any app (MSI, Steam, Uplay, Fraps, Dxtory) I have to completely disable SLI. I'm not talking about setting SLI to single GPU in Nvidia Control Panel/inspector for the game either.. I have to actually turn off SLI system wide in Nvidia Control Panel. If I don't do this every screenshot turns out completely black.

I've had this issue with other games (Sleeping Dogs) but setting the game itself to single GPU always resolved the issue. This is the first time I had to actually turn off SLI entirely.. So.. Anyone have any bright ideas how I can avoid having to do this to take some screenshots? I wouldn't care if disabling SLI was easy but Nvidia Control Panel always wants me to close about 4-5 processes to do it first which gets annoying.

Thanks in advance. Specs in sig.

you tried switching to windowed mode first? then use alt-print-screen, this method captures the rendered window instead of your entire desktop.

Ahh, I forgot about that key combo! It did indeed work.. Not exactly what I was hoping for but it is sure as heck better than switching SLI off so I can't complain. :)

Thanks! Glad I asked here..

Necro bump for useful info. If anyone else is having this problem, launch your 4E missions from directly talking to whoever is giving it, not from the SMI console. This will allow triple monitors in your side missions.

Good question...

I never could really get into this game, and I think beyond the weirdness with the stealth mechanics, I think so far the game feels too linear compared to the older games. Though in fairness, I have not gotten very far, but it's a struggle to even force myself to keep trying it, soo...
