Spintires

I watched Node play this in 4player co-op. It looks like real fun to invite a group of guys over, have some pizza and beer and winch some trucks, haul some logs, and flip some loads.
 
I started messing around last night. Is there any way to "reset" a truck back to its origin? I also don't like that the game feels a bit "sandboxy" without any clear "progression" through maps and trucks and so on. That's only my impression after an hour, likely to change once I know more about what I am doing.
 
In "casual" mode, you can reset trucks back to the home garage once you've unlocked them. Can you reset a truck in-place? Not that I'm aware of.

So glad to see them get success. They did wonders for Train Simulator (Railworks).. They were known for having the best support, best models, and best physics. I think they sold all their Train Simulator work to Dove Tail Games to dedicate 100% of their resources to Spintires and it shows..

got a screenshot of an area that shows tracks going from one side of a creek to the other, but when I drove my jeep there it completely submerged.... liars :)

I know this exact area.. I still have a fuel trailer floating downstream at this point that I had to disconnect to even make it out.. That area is a death trap.
 
Even if the core gameplay isn't nearly what it could be, for $22, I still think this is worth a buy. I don't call many things "technical triumphs", but this is one of those things that actually earns that title. It sets a pretty high bar that will leave you wondering what the hell a lot of other developers (notably indie developers) do all day.

Its also a case in point why PC gaming remains superior to consoles. The fact a niche game like this can even exist.

I have done a good bit of remote access work, been stuck enough that in real life I'm not even very enthusiastic about doing it for fun any more, sometimes in this game the rig will get to bucking...it is SO just like the stuff that really happens it is eerie.
 
Just wait till the mods fully kick in.. The game has endless possibilities and longevity.
 
I have been watching for this to drop for a long time as well. Steve is getting a news post up about it so more [H]'er have visibility on the deal through GMG.

I frickin love this game. Got it two weeks ago, haven't stopped playing.
 
i love the little jeep to uncloak... but damn its fragile.... or I am driving it too hard. I was plying on casual mode , but decided to drive back with only 6 damage left.

i was so proud to make it :)... those nasty rocks under the mud.

I would love to see someone add some dirt bikes or other sorts of rec type vehicles. This engine is begging for it.
 
Game is effin' Hard all I do is get stuck go the log truck and I flipped it over while being stuck....
 
Those who are avid [H] readers know that I rarely have anything nice to say about anything.

Spintires is one of the few exceptions. Yeah, there are a couple annoying things like the rock mechanics and the low poly count mud sticking to tires. However, for a sandbox game this is one of the best games in a long time if you are ok with a slow pace.

Playing multiplayer with voice comms is almost a must to keep it entertaining. Good times!
 
Needs an in-cockpit mode! Does it support wheels/pedals?

How awesome would it be to have physics like this in something like Battlefield or Arma....
 
When I put on all wheel drive the E key and Differential the Q key I can get out of the mud holes better =) Just need to find garages

I found a garage and it told me I don't have enough garage points.. No idea what that is yet.

FYI.. BECAREFUL about trying to edit any files.. You edit even so much as the config file and you won't be able to continue your last session only start a new map.
 
Finally getting to playing with mods.. Sucks it resets your single player, not usable in MP and no achievements though.. Still fun to fool around with

OK, this game sucks....the life out of me already. Too much damn fun......must go to bed.
