ALL YOU HAVE TO DO to speed up your Doom III is to change one key in Doomconfig.cfg file and your game will go much faster, it's claimed.

When you find seta image_cacheMegs "32" you change 32 number to 96 or even 128 or 256 and your Doom will go faster, it's claimed.

Yeah, sounds cool...is there a link to some further info? Or a "how to"?

Either 1/4 or 1/5 of your ram. I did the same tweak 2 days ago and now the game rarely sutters when opening a door. Excellent tweak. My settings are 1/256/20480

I claim that it works, its claimed. My framerate increased by 4-7 fps, its claimed.

the_darkness Don't post that shit here. WTF are you thinking?

I never had the stuttering problem. I have come to the conclusion that Doom3 is very CPU dependent. I upgraded from a XP 2000 to a Mobile XP 2600 running at 2.6ghz and now Doom3 runs very smooth for me at Medium 800x600. Before, during firefights, it would slow down to a slideshow and this was with Doom3 doing autodetect for the settings.

I think the Doom3 hardware guide was a little too optimistic. No one wants to play a FPS when it dips down to 10FPS. Probably a little propoganda and wishful thinking going on there. Damn nice game tho, you just need to throw some hardware at it.
