Hi all. can u help me spec a server pc that needs the following requirements:

  • Run multiple servers at once(web, tomcat, SabNZB, SQL, GIT/Gerrit etc))
  • able to connect a minimum of 6 hdd's in the case and mobo
  • wisper slient
  • cool running
  • Able to run ubuntu server easily

What i need:

  • Multicore CPU
  • RAM
  • MOBO(with intergrated gpu)
  • Mid tower case that can hold 6 hdd's
  • possibly a passive cpu cooler

budget. £200.

Preference, Intel but dont mind AMD if its cheaper and better for the money.

5) If reusing any parts, what parts will you be reusing? Please be especially specific about the power supply. List make and model.

Any particular online stores you'll be buying from?

$56 - Intel Pentium G840 CPU
£74 - Gigabyte GA-H77M-D3H mATX Motherboard
£20 - Corsair CMX4GX3M1A1333C9 4GB DDR3 1333 RAM
£36 - NZXT Source 210 Elite Black ATX Case
---
Total: £176

You don't really need SATA III as virtually all hard drives don't utilize the full bandwidth available from SATA II.

can come in handy for the future. doesnt impact costs though and its backward compatible
