Sound Card conflict?

I've got some weird problem after upgrading my video card I've been trying to resolve for weeks.
Previous Config:
M/B P6T Deluxe V2
PCIEX4_1: Anker USB3.0 card
PCIEX16_1: Radeon 6950 2GB
PCI1 & PCI2: nothing
PCIEX16_2: Sound Blaster X-Fi Titanium HD
PCIEX16_3: Intel Gigabit CT card

Everything worked fine, until I replaced the video card with XFX 290 4GB.
After that I've been getting numerous BSODs with A000001 bugcheck in the video card driver playing games (Diablo3 and few others) or just watching movies with VLC.
When BSOD happens usually it was with some sound bit looping.

This morning my Win7 had an issue starting up - took more than 5 minutes to get to the login screen and after login it was all messed up with a bunch of failed services, including creative audio.
Tried to reboot multiple times, but no luck. Eventually I had to pull out the sound card out and after that Win7 booted normally.

What the heck is going on?
 
Hello, If you haven't started a ticket with Creative or XFX yet, you may want too.

It sounds like a driver conflict with the sound card... normally with situations like this, i try to do a clean uninstall of the video card and sound card drivers, then reinstall making sure any 3rd party software is closed (anti-virus especially).

Once that is completed, most driver related crashes are solved.
 
I have 7 year old rig that runs 2 xfx 9600gt in sli + creative sound card.
I had looping sound crash for as long as I remember. But those might be once a 3 months, or 3 times a day, usually dont happen often and since I never could figure it out apart " there is some incompatibility " somewhere, i just letit slide.

Never had any any software related issues you are having, so might be different( looping sound crash is quite common).

But, while we are on topic , i had crashes all day long and one crash resulted with messed up drivers and one of gpus disabled by windows, after troubleshooting i think psu is about to give out.
Could be similar in your case, or maybe sound card is dying? Try doing some heavy task like gaming, and light, if heavy ones crashes and light doesnt, and you already tested components on their own, its probably psu that is failing to produce enough voltage due its age
 
PSU is Seasonic X750 Gold 750W, about 3.5 years old. Power draw from the socket, according to my UPS is 370 watts while playing a game.

So far tried the following
1) Different memory kit (6GB)
2) Swap X-Fi with an old Xonar DX (PCIe)
3) Stock CPU speed
4) Previous drivers (13.12, 14.3, 14.4 beta, 14.4) with full clean-up in between.
I've experienced the same BSOD A000001 in atikmdag.sys

last attempt
5) swapped slots between the Intel CT and Xonar DX
 
If you have a spare hard drive, put a fresh Windows on it with all your software/drivers and see if it works.
If so, then at least you know it can be fixed.

Keep checking that it works before installing something so you know if something breaks it.
 
I also get the bsod, but only when playing HTML5 video in firefox haha. I have an Asus Xonar Essence ST PCI soundcard.

Still testing my last option. It is hard to check whether it works, sometimes that bugcheck may pop up several times an hour, but sometimes there may be a few days without any.

The experiment with a fresh windows install was a success - no crashed for a day.
I think now I have a new suspect - intel rapid storage drivers v11.
I believe I had v9 installed for several years, but had to upgrade to v11 in order to recognize the new WD Black 4TB.
 
Well, after seemingly normal two weeks with the fresh install, I've got another my 1st crash playing Wildstar.... *sigh* I wish I could just return this card, but it is too late.
 
OK, lets do some experiments.
Concentrate on the system memory.

A few things to try depending on current conditions.
If the memory voltage is less than 1.65V and the memory doesnt get hot, try increasing the voltage a little.
If the memory gets hot when in use, try decreasing the voltage a little.

Try reducing the system ram speed by say 10% and see what happens.

The above are tests to see where the problem lies, not necessarily the final fix.
 
You don't have AMD HDMI sound drivers installed do you?

Also go into the Device Manager and make sure any HDMI sound device is disabled.:D

Same in Hardware and Sound in control panel.
 
Nenu, I've tried many different things, including
1) Stock Processor and Memory speeds
2) Different memory kit

same issue pops up sooner or later.

Magoo, right now only the video driver is installed. No HDMI sound, no Catalyst control center.
