I've got two instances of F@H running on my nice new Opty175, however, Excel is taking its sweet ass time to do basic calculations for some reason now.

Now, I'm running both with -local and -advmethods and -forceasm, and I know this topic has come up somewhere before, but I couldn't find it...how exactly should you run dual cores? I know with HT, there were changes so one was timeless, but that shouldn't matter with dual cores, but I'm just wondering if I should turn -forceasm or -advmethods off on one...

(and speaking of that large Aussie point dump, today I think was my biggest day ever, turning in 2,245 points when all is said and done - just had all of the clients aligning correctly...as I only turned in 530 yesterday)...but still...yay! Beat dem Aussies.

 
the only thing you really need to worry about are dual intels, cuz then you'd need to have QMDS off on one of them. but then agian, QMDs are gone. so nvm
 
I see nothing wrong with your config. Personally, I don't run -avdmethods on AMD boxen as it doesn't seem to get me anything beneficial. I'm not running A64 boxen, though.

I'm not sure what seems to be causing your problems. If you stop one instance of the folding client, does it speed up. If not, does stopping both instances speed it up? If stopping one or both instances speeds things up, I would wonder what is going on. I've never seen a slowdown in something like that even with one instance running on a PIII with 256 meg of RAM on WinXP.

I would think there was a problem with Excel before I'd think F@H was causing the problem. I'm not saying F@H isn't the problem, but Excel isn't exactly processor intensive for the most part and you have plenty of RAM.

You have me stumped on this one.

 
I find it odd as well, but everything else seems to run just fine.

Maybe it's all my SUMIFs and COUNTIFs, but there's only 700 or so rows and I didn't notice any problems on my old XP3700+.
