:ROFLMAO: If AMD would take their heads out of their asses, drop the price so it'll match the 1080, They would indeed pull ahead in some sales over Nvidia. Tsk tsk

They better hope the miners are still wanting cards.

Then the OP would be lying or the OP is ignorant...Forza has been patched and AMD looses now...

well, if we want to be fair, at Forza7, things are a little too complicated, even after NV's new drivers.

I wouldn't be hard on OP if he didn't know, not everyone keep up to date on driver development.

you are very correct putting this link which tests the cards at 4K, but you have to remember that out of all GPUs at the current market, only the GTX1080Ti is a true 4K GPU. All the other GPUs have to make sacrifices (*even GTX1080Ti at few games) in order to play 4K, so there is no point to compare GTX1080 Vs VEGA 64 at 4K, since none of these 2 can really stand for 4K gaming.

I predicted these kind of posts in another thread...I doubt we will hear from the OP again...gurilla-marketing at it's worst...
Let see how the performance unfolds with new drivers/patches.

I predict this will be another foot-in-mouth post very soon.

perhaps, but as i said i won't compare GTX1080 or VEGA64 at 4K since none of them is a true 4K card, only the GTX1080Ti

Err just have to look at the gtx 1080, it was losing to Vega at 4k as well before ;). And the 1080ti was only a few % points above Vega before in the demo as well.

Not sure at which charts you refer to....
Anyway, i believe that a very useful video about Forza7, was made by AdoredTV in my opinion:

One of those.... what buddy? (*Before you answer just keep in mind that my 1st GPU was NV's Riva TNT2 Ultra, and since then i never bought an ATI/AMD GPU -Unlike CPU area, in which i tend to prefer AMD than Intel- )

Have you even seen that video? He is mentioning some CPU bug which limits NV's GPU performance, except the 4K resolution.
That's why i said in a previous post that things are complicated right now regarding Forza7.

if you know what is going on its pretty easy, its good that you didn't even read what the AMD beta driver did for Vega, without that driver the game would go above the 8gb limit for Vega. With it, it doesn't allow that to happen.

Both the 1080 and the 1070 still go above the 8gb limit if you actually read the computerbase.de article you would know. So you just read graphs and screw the article? Great let me make a graph for you that shows Vega pissing itself and that should be enough right?

Its like Forza and Doom believers, no its not a damn API thing, just some things that needed to worked out. Even Doom, Vega doesn't do any better in Vulkan API over Pascal. It is what it is. Same old story different day.

Anyone that thinks otherwise, just don't know what they are talking about.

Well, it is interesting that AMD has gotten it's driver "mojo" back, having better "Game Ready" day-one drivers than NVidia on a couple of key releases. That has not happened in some time and suggests that NVidia is literally asleep at the wheel at this point when it comes to driver releases...

How ironic considering that nVidia makes the chips inside the Xbox, er, wait... No they don't. Crap, what was my point again?

So AMD is game ready while Nvidia you have to wait for them to catch up on the drivers .

We get to see how Wolfenstein performs in a couple of weeks, maybe folks will have to wait as well for Nvidia to catch up to AMD.

Now who has the better drivers???

Yet I hear all the time how great Nvidia drivers are. Nice to see AMD having good performance without needing a update. I will say I miss the interface that AMD has for video cards, the Nvidia panel kind of sucks, well it just reminds me what AMD control panel was a few years ago. It's funny to see the same people over and over defend one side or the other, simply put Nvidia needs to get their shit together on Drivers or work with these developers so their games are not broken on release with Nvidia hardware.

It was broken on both AMD and nV, AMD got the driver out in the 11th hour ;), this is why computerbase.de review they have pre 17.10.1 driver also, they already finished the review with the older driver then added in the info of the newer driver.

The game dev should have been aware of the problem to begin with, shouldn't be going above the 8gb limit on 8 gb cards, asset streaming in engines usually take care of that automatically, but it didn't, so its a problem with the engine, that can be fixed via drivers. Also at highest settings this is pretty much the first game that uses over 10 gb of memory!

I wonder if every driver with a driver-/game-bug will not get it's own thread...as long as the bug make AMD looks good?

Too bad that mojo isn't retroactive, the games that it has lost to nVidia before is still lost to nVidia.

3 games out of several hundred isn't exactly ground breaking. If in a years time Vega can still beat 1080, then you may have a point.

Or perhaps Nvidia can fix their issues so people dont have to #waitforupdate. Simple fact is some people like to see hardware they own do well and well people like you run to do the opposite in these threads. The real issue is why is Nvidia having these problems with new games. Nvidia gets the excuse train while AMD gets drug through the gutter by the same people when the have a issue. Drivers should always limit the memory use so that it fits so it's not even a good excuse, Hell my 290X did a great job of that, I dont think my 1080 should struggle with that.

I get higher numbers than that (97fps @ 1440p to be precise) on my stock 1080 ti using older drivers (my drivers are 2 months old or thereabout), despite having a weaker CPU (4790k) than those reviewers. I have only disabled motion blur and depth of field, doubt those have any impact on fps but maybe that is why.
Game is clearly somewhat CPU/memory bound (I use the large page setting if that matters...) at 1440p in any case, my GPU and my case aren't really getting hot playing 2-3h of it. Totally unlike say, Witcher 3, Mass Effect Andromeda, BF1 or SWBF2 etc. I can confirm the crazy VRAM usage though.

edit : I am assuming here that they're using the built-in benchmark, of course

You meant Nvidia still has a hard time making demanding DX12 games work because of the poor state their DX12 drivers.

Or are you lying or just ignorant ?

Yeah, they have such a hardtime that after one week they are beating AMD with 30%...nice try :)

You deny this thread fell flat on it face?

Lets see where this thread is in a week or two...my guess is that a lot of posters will be gone...just like the OP....*crickets*

Hmm did you seen Forza 3 and Forza 6 have the same issue when they came out too?

Just because you are getting Vega doesn't mean you sit here and talk BS.

Those were DX12 titles , you are just trying to troll here.
Does that disprove that a demanding DX12 is to hard for Nvidia to get right ?

    What, they were DX12 titles.....

its the same engine as Forza 7 man. Forza 3 and 6 use the same engine..... Forza 7 has been updated a bit but same engine non the less.

Game dev did something specifics they put the load on pretty much one core, they have done this on previous Forza's too, and ever time they did this it fucks with nV's driver and then later on they fix it....... Same thing happened here.

It's nice for those that bought into a graphics card that is more expensive, generally slower, and more power hungry than the competition's year old technology to get a couple days worth of bragging rights.

You mean you can only make posts if your graphics card is fast and "cheap"?

Did not know that you have had to get committee approval for posting here about AMD hardware ?
