Hey guys,
I'm in the planning stages of building a new system for the first time in a long time. It's on a moderate budget (<$900), but I want to get something good. I've had my experiences with a bad PSU (Powmax 430W unit years ago), and I don't want to walk down that road again.
Right now I'm looking at either the PC Power and Cooling 500W Silencer or the the Corsair VX 550W. The PCP&C units is ~$100 shipped from the egg, and the Corsair is $70 shipped/AR.
I like the price/reviews of the Corsair unit, my only reservation is that I'm looking at the CM 590 case, which mounts the PSU at the bottom. If I flip the PSU over, that means the 120mm fan in the Corsair will be blowing hot air into the case. In that respect a PSU with the standard 80mm rear fan is appealing.
Price is an issue, the cheaper the better. Are there any other units that I should be looking at? Thanks!
(btw, prospective system specs: E8400, 4GB DDR2, 9600GT, 1 (maybe upto 2 or 3ish eventually SATA HDD) )
