Software fan controller?

I just installed a Tuniq Tower 120 Extreme on my i5-750. Didn't use the hardware fan controller as I thought the mobo would be controlling it. However, it appears that the mobo has it spinning at around 2k rpm constantly. Is there a way to automatically control this with a software program rather than using the hardware fan controller? I don't want to have to reach around the back all the time to adjust it. Specs of my rig are in the sig.
 
If you set the fan speed control in the bios to "legacy" or "voltage" (they changed the naming recently, not sure what it is on P55 boards) mode the motherboard will use voltage based fan speed control and the 3 wire "regular" fan that came with the heatsink will then slow down and speed up based on cpu temp. ( it must be plugged into the cpu fan header, dont worry about the 4th pin on the motherboard, just make sure the keys on the connectors line up and the 4th pin on the motherboard cpu fan header, which is for PWM fan control, is unused.

Ignore the note, that is for Intel made boards, your Gigabyte will control the fan speed.


You should find something like this in your bios.

Control is set to Enabled. Auto Lets BIOS autodetect the type of CPU fan installed and sets the optimal CPU fan control mode (Default). Voltage Sets Voltage mode for a 3-pin CPU fan.
PWM Sets PWM mode for a 4-pin CPU fan.


If all else fails, RTFM. :p

Thank you sir. I just thought since the intel cooler I just pulled off there was controlled by the mobo that this one would as well. I'll give that a go tomorrow. As well as RTFM. :p Thanks again.
