Found this in my old hardware "pile" I believe it was in an old gateway computer back in 1999. (Lived overseas, Hong Kong) and I didn't really know too much about computers then but, still this boggles me. What type of processor is this?

It looks like it says pentium-2 or pentium-3 on it (can't tell, picture is blurred). It would be a slot 1 processor.
 
That's a Pentium II with slot 1. Slot 1 Pentium IIIs had different... case-type-things. :D

I used to have an old Pentium II slot 1 system... I had upgraded to that from a 133 MHz Pentium I.

I believe the P3 wen all the way t up to 1.13 for a short time in slot 1. The 1.13s were recalled iirc.

The P3 did have lower versions in socket 340.
