A pentium 2 (well yea you knew that). it was before they started using the modern day sockets (I believe it started with late pentium 2s or the pentium 3.

Found this in my old hardware "pile" I believe it was in an old gateway computer back in 1999. (Lived overseas, Hong Kong) and I didn't really know too much about computers then but, still this boggles me. What type of processor is this?

It looks like it says pentium-2 or pentium-3 on it (can't tell, picture is blurred). It would be a slot 1 processor.

That's a Pentium II with slot 1. Slot 1 Pentium IIIs had different... case-type-things.

I used to have an old Pentium II slot 1 system... I had upgraded to that from a 133 MHz Pentium I.

All the pentium IIs were slot 1.

I believe the P3 wen all the way t up to 1.13 for a short time in slot 1. The 1.13s were recalled iirc.

The P3 did have lower versions in socket 340.
