Ok here we go, either the ASUS P4P800 SE, with a Intel P4 3.0C Northwood for: $292.99. Or ASUS P5P800, and a Intel LGA 775 P4 530J 3.0 Ghz prescott for 281.99? Thanks

I have the 3.0E with the P4P800 SE but I would definately recommend going with a LGA775 chip and mobo. Granted that, I don't think the P5P board is so hot because it lacks PCIe (and thus future upgradability) and also uses the same chipset (865PE) as socket 478 boards.

Unfortunately, I don't know enough about the 9xx Intel chipset performance to make any recommendations outright, but I can tell you that I'm running a similar system as you plan to get for 478 (without the Northwood), and it isn't bad, but it isn't futureproof as far as getting an LGA775/PCIe system is.

this might sound a little stupid but i dont exactly understand PCI-E. What is the 2 small slots next to where you put your graphics card?

If I would get PCI-E board this looks like it would be it, plus it is a combo, so save $30 bucks, ends up even cheaper than the other two i said above.
EDIT: nevermind, this processor is the 630, which is 260 bucks.

I would go with the LGA775 setup. You'll have support for processors over 3.4GHz, which 478 won't give you.
